  • Recreate Your Favorite Looks from the 2016 SAG Awards
    Rachel McAdams

    The Look: Effortless Waves
Stylist: Dove Celebrity Stylist Mark Townsend

    How-To:

    1. "To achieve Rachel's lived-in texture, I started by applying several drops of the new Dove Regenerative Nourishment Serum-in-Oil to her damp hair to nourish hair and seal the cuticle.
    2. "I then blew out her hair with a small, round Spornette Mixed Bristle brush.
    3. "Once her hair was fully dry and smoothed out, I started to create texture by using my 1-inch ghd curve classic curl iron to wave the underneath section of her hair loosely. I love this curling iron because it features ghd's tri-zone technology, which allows me to style hair at the optimal temperature of 365 degrees. This ensures styles last longer without causing extra damage.
    4. "I then concentrated my efforts on the top section, using the new ghd platinum styler, which also features ghd’s tri-zone technology and gives added shine, to create soft bends in an 'S' formation.
    5. "I then set the hair around her face with flat clips in said 'S' shape and let it cool.
    6. "Once I removed the clips, I sprayed her blonde locks with LOTS and LOTS of Dove Refresh+Care Volume & Fullness Dry Shampoo for volume, texture and grit. The end result is an effortlessly cool take on a 1920s finger wave.”
  • Gwendoline Christie

    The Look: Smooth and Structured
Stylist: TRESemmé Celebrity Stylist John D.

    How-To:

    1. Begin by combining a dollop of TRESemmé TRES Two Mega Firm Control Gel and a small amount of TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Crème Serum, and apply to clean, towel-dried hair to create hold and allow a smooth finish.
    2. Create a deep side part and use a flat bristle brush to blow-dry hair, directing it toward the back of the head. Working in sections, starting from the back and move toward the front will offer more control while drying.
    3. Once hair is dried and brushed into place, use a flat iron to straighten just the ends of the hair.
    4. Finish the look with a generous amount of TRESemmé TRES Two Extra Hold Hairspray to tame fly-aways and create a clean, polished look.
  • Anna Chlumsky

    The Look: Fashion Ballerina Chic
Stylist: Macadamia Professional International Creative Director, Giannandrea

    How-To:

    1. Apply Macadamia Professional Blow Dry Lotion from mid-length to ends of wet hair.
    2. Blow-dry mid-sized sections with a large Macadamia Professional 53mm Hot Curling Boar Brush to create a voluminous blowout.
    3. Once hair is dry, section a large triangle at the crown and secure with pins. Smooth a quarter-sized amount of Macadamia Professional Nourishing Moisture Oil Treatment on the sides and back sections outside of the triangle portion only.
    4. Brush the sides and back hair tightly into a high ponytail and secure with a hair elastic.
    5. Unpin the triangle at the crown and begin to back-comb from the front section, moving towards the back of the scalp to create volume at the roots. Lightly brush it backward to smooth the hair and wrap it around the main ponytail.
    6. Taking 1-inch sections from the ponytail, begin to wrap them around the elastic and secure with straight bobby pins, building a bun. Continue this until all sections have been wrapped and secured into a chic, tight bun with no fly-aways.
    7. Sweep any baby hairs across the forehead to achieve a windswept look.
    8. Spray the finished style with Macadamia Professional Style Lock Strong Hold Hairspray and use a fine-tooth comb to smooth the sides. For extra shine and polish, lightly spray Macadamia Professional Weightless Moisture Dry Oil Micro Mist all over the finished style.
  • Julie Bowen

    The Look: Elegant Updo
    Stylist: Celebrity Stylist Jill Crosby

    How-To:

    1. "To complement her beautiful beaded dress, I wanted to create an elegant and simple look. Starting with wet hair, I applied a volumizing mousse and blew out using my T3 PROi Dryer and a round brush. I then created a deep side part.
    2. "Next, I prepped the hair with a small amount of oil and used the T3 SinglePass 2 flat iron to create lift at the root and a beautiful shine for a sleek look.
    3. "I pulled the hair into a very low ponytail, keeping the left side tight to the side of the head and the right top bang out. To create a side sweep of her top bang, I quickly blew out with a round brush and pinned to the side while makeup was being applied.
    4. "Because Julie’s hair is only chin length, I built her low chignon using hair extensions. I prepped the hair pieces with dry shampoo to provide more of a ‘grip.’
    5. "I then rolled and pinned the extensions to her ponytail until I created the shape I wanted.

"Tip: I love to use matte bobby pins as they provide a better grip and don’t show!"

  • Alicia Vikander

    The Look: Brushed-Back Strands
    Stylist: Celebrity Hairstylist Chris Naselli

    How-To:

    1. “Starting with wet hair, I applied a quarter size amount of Kérastase Crème de la Crème from roots to ends and combed through. Then I started to rough-dry her hair to about 70% using the ghd air hair dryer.
    2. "I next applied a quarter-size amount of Kérastase Keratine Thermique from roots to ends to seal in moisture and to help protect from heat styling and frizz control.
    3. "Then, I created a center part and blow-dried each section of her hair using ghd’s natural bristle radial brush size 3 for a smooth and beautiful blowout.
    4. "Starting at the back of the head and working towards the front, I took 1-inch sections of hair and then smoothed hair with the new ghd platinum styler.
    5. "Next, spray a small amount of Kérastase Matérialiste just on side sections and use a comb to tuck hair behind each ear. Use the ghd air hair dryer again for a few seconds - the blast of hot air helps the sides stay in the place.
    6. "I then sprayed a few pumps of Kérastase Elixir Ultime Bi-Phase Spray Oil all over and smoothed hair with ghd’s oval dressing brush for a glossy finish.
    7. "To finish off the look, I lightly sprayed Kérastase Fix Fabulous around sides for hold.”
  • Priyanka Chopra

    The Look: Knotted Updo
    Stylist: Celebrity Hairstylist Castillo

    How-To:

    1. “On clean damp hair, I started out by using Joico K-PAK Split End Mender along with Joico Power Gel Sculpting Gel on the roots and mid shaft of the hair. I then separated the hair into 4 sections, and dried her hair using ghd’s air hair dryer and ghd’s ceramic vented radial brush size 4 to create volume at the base of her head.
    2. "Then, I took 1-inch sections of hair and created pin curls over the left eye, stacking them one over the other to let them set.
    3. "I made two parts in her hair, one behind each ear. With a small amount of Joico Power Gel Sculpting Gel, I coated each section of hair from the roots to mid shaft and brushed out with ghd’s oval dressing brush and made the ponytail low and off centered. With the remaining two sections, I sprayed Joico’s Iron Clad and brushed through.
    4. "I smoothed over the side sections of hair with ghd’s white platinum styler to ensure they were smooth and shiny.
    5. "Then, I made a second ponytail and pulled back the remaining sections and crossed them over into the existing ponytail.
    6. "I next glided ghd’s white platinum styler through the ponytails and brushed down the side of her head to create a smooth and sleek effect.
    7. "I divided the ponytail into two sections and began to create a knot by crossing the sections of hair over one another and secured with bobby pins.
    8. "At the crown of her head, I released the pin curls and brushed them out with ghd’s oval dressing brush. With ghd’s curve classic curl iron, I curled the remaining pieces to create a wave effect and pinned the wavy pieces across her left ear.
    9. "To finish, I pulled out a few additional pieces and sealed in the look with Joico’s Flip Turn Volumizing Hair Spray.”
  • Claire Danes

    The Look: Carefree Waves
    Stylist: Celebrity Hairstylist Peter Butler

    How-To:

    1. Start with a blowout using a paddle brush for a loose, rough blow-dry. First, apply Goldwell Style Sign Top Whip Ultra Strong Volume Mousse to create the necessary texture and volume in the roots.
    2. Next, curl hair with a 1¾-inch barrel curling iron, varying direction and leaving the ends straight. Before curling each section spray Goldwell Style Sign Naturally Full 3 Bodifying BlowDry & Finish Spray and then continue curling to lock in the wave and texture.
    3. Finally, use a wide-tooth comb to break it up and finish with Goldwell Style Sign Gloss Diamond Gloss Shine Spray to allow the hair to continue to flow.
  • Nicole Kidman

    The Look: Timeless Elegance
Stylist: Celebrity Stylist Italo Gregorio for Pai-Shau

    How-To:

    1. Gregorio first shampooed Nicole’s hair with Pai-Shau Replenishing Hair Cleanser, then followed with Pai-Shau Supreme Revitalizing Mask with Signature Exotic Tea Complex.
    2. Next, Gregorio applied Pai-Shau Biphasic Infusion (with Signature Exotic Tea Complex) to Nicole’s damp hair. “It’s a new kind of super-lightweight primer with tea antioxidants that leaves no residue,” said Gregorio. “I used it to protect Nicole’s hair from the blow dryer and curling iron, and to add shine that looked rich but still very natural. It also helped prevent hair from frizzing under the lights later on. It made her hair look even more radiant. Biphasic Infusion was an absolute essential for Nicole’s look tonight.”
    3. He then applied new Pai-Shau Royal Abundance Mousse for a subtle hold, weightless volume and bounce.
    4. Gregorio then blow-dried Nicole’s hair with a round brush, and used a 2-inch curling iron to create loose, soft waves.
    5. After he had created a side part and shaped the look, Gregorio finished with a light spray of Pai-Shau Sublime Hold Hairspray for moveable, touchable hold with shine.
  • Sarah Silverman

    The Look: Chocolate Espresso Brown
Colorist: Goldwell Celebrity Colorist, Rona O’Connor

    How-To:

    1. O'Connor used Goldwell shades to create Sarah's look. “I like dark brunettes to have a slightly transparent quality to their hues that reflect light and multiple undertones," said O'Connor. "I prefer the color to not look heavy and flat, which is very common with dark shades."
    2. O'Connor used Goldwell Semi Permanent Colorance Glaze as the final overlay, sealing the hair with healthy shine and slightly lighter tones to create reflective transparency in her overall color. Layering multiple hues also helps prevent fading, and acts as a topcoat. Using finishing glazes create high quality color that reflects multiple tones and extra shine making her hair red carpet ready.
