Recreate the Three Hairstyles from Stella McCartney’s Pre-Fall 2017 Show

Held at The Cotton Club in Harlem, NYC, Stella McCartney’s Pre-Fall 2017 show featured McCartney’s effortlessly beautiful, British-inspired clothes as well as exciting performances and entertainment, including a live jazz band. Antoinette Beenders led a team of Aveda stylists in creating three gorgeous looks, including a chic, brushed-back look, a classic men’s style, and show-stopping, 1940s-inspired curls by Aveda artist Sue Thompson.

Perfect for the early days of spring, the three styles offers a little something for every client — whether they prefer a casual coif, retro style, or the classics. Recreate each look with the how-tos in the slideshow below!

    Look One: 1940s Pinup

A feast for the eyes, Stella McCartney’s presentation took attendees back to a time when 1940’s bombshells ruled. The night included entertainers with the ultimate pinup style created by Thompson.

To get the look, start with Aveda’s Voluminizing Tonic for ample volume. Next, curl the hair in tight spirals, fashion into place and set with Air Control Light Hold Hair Spray.

“Be sure to create a gorgeous, deep side part,” Thompson says. “That is the element that will make or break this look.”

    Look Two: Model Undone

True to Stella McCartney form, the female models had beautifully simple hair to keep the focus on the clean, British-inspired collection.

Start this look by creating a luxurious blowout. Next, use Aveda’s Pure Abundance Style-Prep and Damage Remedy Split End Repair to bring out your client’s natural texture. Beenders’ tip: “Smooth hair out with a hairdryer and make it glossy first; then mess it up with Pure Abundance Style-Prep to get the perfect done undone look.

“Don’t be afraid to let [the] natural texture shine through,” Beenders adds. “You want [your client’s] hairstyle to emulate [her] distinct personality.”

    Look Three: Back to Basics

The men on the sidelines at Stella McCartney’s presentation looked refined and oh-so-cool. “Their hair was a suited look, inspired by the men of the 1940s,” says Ricardo Dinis, Aveda global artistic director.

To get the look, use Aveda Men Pure-Formance Firm Hold Gel and Aveda Men Pure-Formance Pomade for a retro style. “When you apply the gel, start from the back and work your way forward using a comb to evenly distribute the gel to create a more polished look,” advises Dinis.
