Today, you will get to know Queeny Ha (@hair.qny). She is a 24-year-old independent stylist.
Q&A:
Beauty Launchpad (BLP): What is a fun fact about you?
Queeny Ha (QH): I am just about as spontaneous as spontaneous gets. This trait about me has pushed me to make some of the best decisions in my life thus far. It is also one of my favorite characteristics about myself, since it helps me not take life too seriously.
BLP: What is your proudest accomplishment?
QH: Being a homeowner. This accomplishment has meant so much to me. It has allowed me to curate and create an environment where I can express my creativity. This opportunity has helped me surround myself in a space where I can be vulnerable, safe and healing. I have gained so much peace from being able to come home to a place that fully evokes who I am.
BLP: What is your current favorite hair trend?
QH: I have been a huge fan of the shift towards enhancing one’s natural color. As a color specialist who mostly works on naturally dark canvases, I have mainly gotten the request for ash blonde transformations for the majority of my career up until now! I am happy seeing the movement towards embracing and enhancing warmth within a foilyage. brunettes and beige tones are really having their moment, and I’m all for it!
BLP: What is a hair tip you have for your fellow stylists?
QH: Always always fully detangle, part and tone at the chair! I know this is a controversial one since it adds time to the service. When working on such contrasting levels where a client has naturally dark roots paired with a blonde foilyage, I find detangling, parting and toning at the chair to be most effective in completely avoiding any splotches.
BLP: What do you love about your work?
QH: My absolute favorite part about this industry is the chance to be able to be a part of someone’s journey in self-love and expression. Being able to connect with so many different walks of life has been such an honor.
BLP: What motivates you about the industry you are in?
QH: How rapidly things are constantly changing! This both motivates and scares the crap out of me! I love that the hair industry is ever changing with trends and techniques. This creates such a motivational environment to constantly grow and adapt. I truly do believe that there is always something new to learn within this industry.
BLP: What is a professional goal you have for yourself?
QH: A goal I have for myself would be to expand my professional network and explore different branches within the industry. As much as I love being behind the chair, I would love to work towards opening more doors for myself to experience different fields of profession related to hair.
