  • Blake Lively hairstyle at the 2016 Met Gala
    Blake Lively

The Look: Modernized 70s with a touch of Grecian influence
    Stylist: Rod Ortega

    1. "I started with wet hair and sprayed L’Oréal Blow Out Heat Spray onto her root to give it more volume (Great for giving lift off the root)," says Ortega. "I finger-dried the hair starting at the root area with the T3 Featherweight Luxe 2i dryer.
    2. "Once finger-dried, I took the T3 Vent Brush and smoothed it in pieces here and there, keeping some texture. I wanted the final look to let the hair expand – didn’t want it too tight.
    3. "Next take the top section of the hair into a triangle (from temple to temple to the back of the head) and clip it out. Then, smooth the remaining hair into a ponytail… not too high, not too low, just at the middle part of the back of her head.
    4. "Then, take the top triangle section and back-comb it with the T3 Vent Brush, so it has a little more height than on the sides. Smooth it back, spray with Elnett (let it dry) and then brush it into a ponytail. Use an elastic to secure, and then marry the two ponytails into one.
    5. "Once hair is in the ponytails, add additional texture with the T3 Whirl Convertible Styling Wand.
    6. "Take the ponytail and twist it into a bun. This is a mid-head chignon (When you look at her head on, you see the big bun from the front).
    7. "Then, take the hair bun nets (from Ricky’s) and cut in two half-moon pieces. Take two pieces of hair and wrap around the half-moon bun pieces. Place them on the side of the bun and anchor with pins, blending it as you go.
    8. "Finish by taking two other pieces of hair and twisting them around the big bun. Securing with pins. The key is to not be too perfect."
  • Kerry Washington

    The Look: Very vamp-y
    Stylist: Takisha Sturdivant-Drew

    1. Says Sturdivant-Drew, "For Kerry’s healthy, shiny looking hair, I shampooed with Neutrogena Triple Repair Shampoo and conditioned with the Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Mask.
    2. "I blow-dried her hair with the T3 Featherweight Luxe 2i dryer, and gave her some lift at the roots with the T3 AntiGravity Barrel Brush.
    3. "Then I parted her hair on the right side and waved her hair the T3 Bodywaver 1.75” Styling Iron for fullness, shine and texture.
    4. "Starting at the root, I wrapped medium strands of the hair loosely around the Bodywaver for 7 seconds, pinning the curls as I went. Expert tip: alternate clock- and counter-clockwise with the iron throughout the hair to pump up the volume.
    5. "I let the curls set for an hour, then, once she got dressed, I took the clips out and brushed it out with the T3 Vent Brush.
    6. "For added texture I clipped in TSD Hair extentions in the center.
    7. "To finish, I gathered/twisted her hair all together in the mid-center, and cut it in the back and let the hair fall forward for some drama."

    4. "The ColorProof TextureCharge Color Protect Texture + Finishing Spray really came into play for this look as well. I applied the Texture Charge to each section of the hair when it was completely dry after I blow-dried each section with a round brush.
    5. "Then, apply the ColorProof FiberBlast Texture Crème to the ends of the hair to help keep fly-aways down.

    Stylist: Adir Abergel for Pai-Shau

    1. “I started with Pai-Shau Biphasic Infusion, made with their amazing Signature Exotic Tea Complex," says Abergel. "I always love the beautiful, weightless foundation it gives. It also primed and hydrated her just-bleached hair so the texture was smooth, shiny and frizz-free, almost like virgin hair so it was easier to style.
    2. “I took a handful of Pai-Shau Royal Abundance Mousse to give body and create soft structure and worked it from roots to mid length. I then blow-dried the hair using a diffuser to lock in the deconstructed texture.

Karmand applied Maybelline New York Eye Studio 24HR Color Tattoo Cream Gel Shadow in Silver Strick in the inner corner of the eye, and then she used Maybelline New York Eye Studio Master Drama in Midnight Master to define the eyes. From the outer corner, she applied the glittery charcoal color (top far right shadow) and blended it over the silver shadow until a well-blended gradient was created. Stylist: Cesar Ramirez

    1. Says Ramirez, "To start, on clean hair, I smoothed everything using my Mizani Thermasmooth System and One Styling Tools Flat Iron with infected technology to repair hair as you style. Once all smoothed, I sectioned about an inch wide above each ear to the back of her head and braided to add texture and a foundation for our bands and silver leafing.
    2. "Next, I teased the roots at the crown to create volume. I added hair to her ponytail using 22 inches of Pure wavy hair from Indique. This added the drama to her look.
    3. "I wrapped the base of the ponytail in silver wiring.
    4. "Finally, I attached hooked elastics from braid to braid to create a rippled texture to the top of the pony. All of this took me about an hour and a half. These are some great ways to innovate a ponytail. I really had a lot of fun with this look."
