Hairstylist Kay Matthews recently created a rebelliously-tousled, men's hair look, reminiscent of classic styles like James Dean and Marlon Brando, but with a modern edge. The overall effect, one Matthews describes as "cleaned up, but not extremely defined," is rugged yet sophisticated.

Says Matthews, "[The] model is a natural red head. I used Matrix Clear Glossifer for shine and body, after shampooing for 10 minutes.
"[For the] haircut, I used texturizer shears to add natural separation and texture. [The] model's beard and mustache was groomed for an 'after-five' effect.
"I used American Crew Boost Powder [when creating the look]; it allows the hair to be pliable and kept a natural texture, without looking too styled."
