To start, hair was washed with L'Oréal Paris Hair Expert Extraordinary Clay Shampoo and Conditioner.  It was important that last rinse of conditioner be done using cold water to close cuticle completely, which maintains subsequent volume.

  1. Key to the look was L'Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle BOOST IT Inject Volume Mousse, which served as the foundation.  On towel-dried hair, Giannandrea worked product from root to tip, combing through.
  2. He next began blow drying the hair slowly on hot and low – using just his fingers so as not to stretch the hair, which minimizes volume. A combination of heat and mousse are enough for long-lasting volume, no brush needed.
  3. Next, he took a wide tooth and sectioned the hair into a deep side part, and prepped small sections with L'Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray.
  4. Using a 1-inch curling iron, he wrapped hair around the barrel with a little twist of his wrist while doing so to avoid any flatness.  He worked the curling iron all the way around the head from top, down.
  5. To style the front, he picked up a flat iron to create a bend that was in line with the rest of the side curls -- the effect of a flat iron vs. curling iron is less “round”.
  6. Once done, he brushed all the waves out GENTLY so as not to stretch them out.
  7. Next, he added a bit of L'Oréal Paris Hair Expert Extraordinary Clay Dry Shampoo for hold and plumpness, especially given the moisture in the air due to weather.
  8. [Last, he softly brushed and added a final lock-in spritz of Elnett for shine.]

I began with damp hair and applied Matrix Style Link Volume Builder and Matrix Style Link Mineral Airy Builder Dry Texture Foam on her roots and ran it through the ends of her hair to build volume and texture. I brushed it through with the T3 Paddle Brush.

Expert tip: Cocktailing both the mousse and foam creates a varied texture.

  1. Before I began blow drying, I lightly sprayed Matrix Biolage R.A.W. Replenish Oil Mist through the ends to create a beautiful shine. Next, I rough dried the hair using the T3 Featherweight Luxe 2i Dryer until mostly dry.
  2. I then clipped her hair up starting in the back, blow drying each section with the 2.5” T3 Anti-Gravity Barrel Brush.
  3. After the hair was completely round brushed and dried – I applied the T3 Volumizing Hot Rollers LUXE. Leaving the bangs out, I set the hair with 4 hot rollers, one on each side, the top of the head and the remainder on the back.
  4. While the rollers set in the hair, I sprayed with Matrix Style Link Perfect Volume Fixer Volume Hairspray and allowed the rollers to cool.
  5. I pulled the rollers out when cooled, and lightly sprayed Matrix Style Link Texture Builder Finishing Spray through the roots and ends of the hair. I then brushed the hair through with the T3 Vent Brush.
  6. Once the hair is brushed through, I pulled her hair into a half-up, half-down look by taking the sides of the hair and pulling them up behind the head, securing with a couple of bobby pins.
  7. Once done with pinning the hair, I finished everything off with one last spray of Matrix Style Link Perfect Volume Fixer Volume Hairspray. This sets the look,

  1. I started with MOP mixed greens shampoo and conditioner to moisturize the hair.
  2. On damp hair, I added the lemongrass whip to the roots for lift and added volume, then applied the MOP c-curl defining cream to midshaft through the ends.
  3. Next, with the T3 Featherweight Luxe 2i Hair Dryer and SoftTouch 2 Diffuser I diffused sections of the hair.
  4. As soon as the hair was completely dry I used the T3 Whirl Trio Curling Iron to create different sized curls to clean up the look.
  5. Last, I sealed the entire look in with the MOP c-system hairspray.
