Eye of the Storm: The Beauty Industry Came Together to Support Hurricane Relief

In the face of adversity, the pro-beauty industry came together to aid those affected by the devastation Hurricanes Harvey and Irma left in their wake. We share just a few stories of how those around us are lending a hand during this time of crisis, and thank them for their incredible efforts.

Colorproof Evolved Color Care
Founders Jim and Cheryl Markham gave $25,000 on behalf of the brand to the Salon Service Group’s UCare Foundation, which exclusively supports stylists who need assistance due to unforeseen medical conditions or emergency financial situations, including the recent hurricane victims

Farouk Systems:
The company’s #Hairdressers4Hairdressers campaign tapped hairdressers, salons and schools across the country to participate in a cut-a-thon that raised money for the Professional Beauty Industry’s Disaster Relief Fund, with 100 percent of the donations collected going toward relief efforts for hairdressers seeking to restore their businesses and livelihood post-disaster. In response to Hurricane Harvey, founder and CEO Dr. Farouk Shami also committed $5 million in products and tools to various shelters, churches, organizations, stylists and salons.

Kao
Kao USA Salon Division joined forces with the Professional Beauty Association Disaster Relief Fund by pledging $5,000 to help salon professionals rebuild their lives with short-term immediate assistance, in addition to $20,000 donated by Kao USA and Kao Corporation to the American Red Cross to assist in recovery efforts.

Keune Haircosmetics North America:
Keune contributed $10,000 worth of travel-size shampoo and conditioner to the Salon Service Group’s UCare Foundation.

Matrix:
Matrix joined forces with L’Oréal to host blood drives and monetary donations for the American Red Cross.

Morphe:
The brand donated $100,000 to the American Red Cross for relief efforts.

Paul Mitchell Schools:
Paul Mitchell Schools raised $200,000 for the Andrew Gomez Dream Foundation, which was then donated to the Professional Beauty Association’s Disaster Relief Fund.

Roux:
The brand donated 1,200 duos of its Roux Rejuvenating Strengthening Shampoo and Conditioner to shelters in Houston.

Sexy Hair:
The aftermath of Hurricane Irma in Marathon, Florida.

Proceeds from the company’s warehouse sale went toward Sport Clips’ Wayne McGlone Memorial Relief Fund ($5,000), with the remaining balance benefiting the Professional Beauty Association’s Disaster Relief Fund.

Sola Salon Studios:
Sola Salon Studios created a campaign with donations benefiting the Professional Beauty Association’s Disaster Relief Fund.

Sport Clips:
The company’s Wayne McGlone Memorial Relief Fund provided financial assistance through grants for Sport Clips team members during this time of crisis.

Wahl Professional:
Wahl donated $5,000 to the Professional Beauty Association’s Disaster Relief Fund.

Zotos:
The brand made a generous donation to the Professional Beauty Association’s Disaster Relief Fund.
