How to Get the Look: NYFW Messy Bun & Natural Waves with Biolage R.A.W.

At Donna Karan's NYFW show this year, Urban Zen, she presented two hairstyles along with her incredible outfits. Throughout the presentation, Donna communicated “the journey of a woman” inspired by a woman that is a warrior and someone who embodies timeless elegance.  Models were naturally styled by leading stylist, Michael Johnson using the Biolage R.A.W. Styling Collection.

Of the looks, Michael Johnson said, "Donna and I agreed that we wanted the girls’ hair to be naturally textured with a slightly smoothed look to really capture the mantra of Urban Zen. Look 1—Textured Bun
STEP BY STEP

1. To prep, apply Biolage R.A.W. Smoothing Styling Milk to ease the grip of blow dry and to nourish
2. Blow dry or air dry the hair by running fingers through to enhance natural textures  
3. Center part the hair and comb through to give the hair direction
4. Create a high ponytail leaving two inches of hair from the hairline out of the ponytail
5. Take the two remaining sidepieces and loosely wrap it around the ponytail
6. Take the ponytail and spray the Biolage R.A.W. Texturizing Styling Spray and lightly backcomb it
7. After adding texture, pin the ponytail to create a loose and touchable bun
8. Finish it off with the Biolage R.A.W. Frizz Control Styling Spray through the hair to maintain frizz and hold back flyaways

LOOK 2—Loose Touchable Waves
STEP BY STEP

1. To prep, apply Biolage R.A.W. Smoothing Styling Milk to ease the grip of blow dry and to nourish
2. Create a center part and comb around the hairline creating waves and giving the hair direction
3. Spray with Biolage R.A.W. Texturizing Styling Spray to give definition then use a ¾ inch barrel curling iron to curl hair and brush the waves through to keep them soft
4. Spray the Biolage R.A.W. Frizz Control Styling Spray through the hair to maintain frizz and protect from humidity
5. Finish it off with the Biolage R.A.W. Texturizing Styling Spray to set and add texture to the hair
