Oribe recently styled “Her Royal Minajesty” Nicki Minaj for the Winter 2014/15 issue of V Magazine, adding soft texture to the hair to enhance the singer’s new blonde highlights. “The look was a combination of Stephanie Seymour, Linda Evangelista and Naomi Campbell from the Versace days of the ’90s,” Oribe explained. “It was wild but chic and showed off the superstar that she is.”
For the color, which was the focus of the look, sections of hair were blocked off in a tic-tac-toe pattern and given different hues. Then, certain spots were given random bleach and dye marks to add to the intrigue. This unique look perfectly suited Oribe’s view of the star: “Ordinary she is not.”
Get the Look:
1. Apply Royal Blowout to the ends and blow-dry with a round brush.
2. Once hair is dry, take a 2-inch curling iron and curl the hair in a classic set using Imperméable. Pin the curls in place and let them set, then brush out. “You want to keep the hair soft so that you can switch it from side to side and make the hair appear to change colors,” Oribe said.
