Hair Color How To: Blue Steel by Shonda Broadus

Stylist Shonda Broadus transformed her client from grown-out balayage to this gorgeous, steel blue hair color. Cool, silvery tones add edge to this fun look, while rich, royal blue adds depth and dimension. Below, Shonda shares how she created this stunning color.

Says Shonda, "I lifted [the client] twice with Schwarzkopf Igora Royal and 20 vol. The first application was done on the mid-shaft/ends and the second was from roots to ends (both with 25 minute processing times).

"After shampooing and towel-drying her hair, I proceed to apply a custom blend of Joico Intensity Titanium/Clear all over and Keune Semi Silver throughout the top. Let process for 20 minutes.

"After shampooing/towel-drying and cutting, I applied PRAVANA Hydro Pearls Oil. I then blew-out the hair and styled."
