  • Lupita Nyong'o

The Look: With Lupita wearing a Prada gown in a bold peach color with florals details for the Met Gala, Nick wanted to play on the dress’ embellishments without making the makeup too delicate or lady-like. There’s a certain roughness and spontaneity to the bold color strokes, so he said he created smudges on the eyes using many different colors, while keeping the rest of the face polished to balance out the look.

    The Stylist: Nick Barose

    Face How-to:

    • To get a fresh, spring glow, I prepped Lupita’s face with Lancôme Advanced Gé nifique Youth Activating Concentrate and Lancôme Advanced Génifique Eye Light Pearlon her eyes.
    • After it absorbed, I applied Lancôme La Base Pro Pore Eraserto her t-zone to keep her glow looking polished and glowing, but not too shiny.
    • I applied   Lancôme Miracle Cushion Foundation in 555 Suede Cand Teint Idole Ultra Wear Camouflage Concealer in 510 Suede Cas a base, and then set the look with  Lancôme Translucence Mattifying Silky Pressed Powder in 550.
    • I added  Cushion Blush Subtil in Cerise Givreeon apples of cheeks and Lancôme Click & Glow Liquid Highlighter in Lumières Ros èes on top of cheekbones and the bridge of nose to enhance her glow.

    Eyes How-to:

    • Prep lids with eye makeup primer Lancôme Aquatique in 01 Beige Ivory .  Since I really wanted the bold eyeshadow to pop and the colors to look true, prepping the lids with a lighter color primer instead of the darker one, created the perfect canvas underneath to truly showcase the colors.
    • On the eyes, I smudged a variety of shades and textures to create a dramatic look in touches of bold fuchsia, purple, blue, peach & yellow.  With my finger, I smudged on Lancôme Drama Liqui-Pencils in Cuivre, Or Billiant, Brique, Cote D’Azure, & Ampoulélike cream eyeshadow.
    • I then enhanced different areas with color eyeshadow, usingLancôme Color Design Eye Shadows in Miss Sweetheart D, Sapphire Lace, A Touch of Coral, All That Shimmers &Exhibition.
    • To darken and define the brows against the colors on the eyes, brush the brows with Lancôme Sourcils Styler Brow Gel in Transparent to keep them nice and groomed. Fill in the brows to make them fuller and longer with Lancôme Les Sourcils Definis in 06 Noir.
    • To complete the look, add one coat of Lancôme Monsieur Big Mascara.

    Lips How-to:

    • To compliment the eye without competing, I added a touch of soft peach using Lancôme Matte Shaker Liquid Lipstick in 270 Beige Vintage.

    Nails How-to

    • Deborah Lippmann prepped the nails of Gisele Bundchen, Dakota Johnson and Lupita Nyong'o using her signature waterless manicure technique.
    • First, she cleansed the nails with The Stripper nail lacquer remover, shaped the nails with her Smooth Operator 4-way nail buffer, exfoliated with Cuticle Remover and hydrated the hand and nails with Rich Girl SPF 25 Hand Cream and The Cure,
    • Deborah applied a quarter-size amount of Marshmallow Whipped Hand & Cuticle Scrub to the top of each hand and rubbed in circular motion
    • Deborah applied a layer of Gel Lab Base Coat  to correct and conceal imperfections, brighten, prime and fill ridges for a smooth matte flawless finish before lacquer application

    • She topped off each look with a layer of Gel Lab Top Coat
  • Lily Collins

    The Artist: Fiona Stiles

    Face How-to:

    • For her skin, I prepped with the Lancôme Genifique Youth Activating Second Skin Mask letting the goodness soak in while her hair was started
    • Then, I used the Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Cushion Foundation in 140 Ivoire with a touch of the Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Wear Camouflage Concealer in 090 Ivoire where needed, and set the skin with Lancôme Translucence Mattifying Silky Pressed Powder in Ivoire 100
    • I used a little of the Lancôme Blush Subtil in Shimmer Rose Cashmere on the cheeks for a fresh softness on the face to balance out the dark lips

    Brows/Eyes How-to:

    • For her brows I filled them in just a touch with the Fiona Stiles Beauty Micro-Precision Brow Pencil in Neutral Brown and set them with Lancôme Sourcils Styler

    How-to:

    • I started on damp hair applying Kerastaste Volume Active Mousse through the ends then spraying Serge Normant Meta Lush Volumizer at the roots of her hair. After that I started on the bangs first using my hands to create shape then smoothing out with a small Ibiza Boar Bristle Brush.
    • I then, started blow drying the rest of the hair with a larger Ibiza Boar Bristle Brush, starting at the bottom of the head section by section working my way up to the crown when I reached the crown I put 2 velcro rollers in after blow drying the section to create height and smoothness.
    • I let the hair set for about 15 minutes- after that I pulled the rollers out brushed the hair into place with anSheila Stotts removal brush. I ran a Harry Josh flat iron very lightly through the ends to crate shape and shine.
    • After that I sprayed Sashajuan Dark Hair Powder through the crown and hair to add hold a texture and finished the look by spraying Sashjuan Hair Spray for amazing hold and shine. Completing the look.

    • For the first (top) pony, I pulled up the top half of the hair, ending that section right above the ears and secured with an elastic
    • I then pulled up the rest of the hair into a second pony, directly underneath the first and secured with an elastic
    • Next, I took a small section of hair from the pony and wrapped it around the hair elastic, securing with bobby pins.
    • To add some texture to the pony, use a small plated flat iron like the T3 SinglePass Compact flat iron to bend the hair.
    • Expert tip: Start at the top of the pony and bend the iron 4 times in an s-shape pattern; then leave 1.5 inches and move down the pony and add another 4 bends until you’ve reached the end

    • Take Medium sized sections of the hair and spray L'Oréal Professional Infinum 4, comb and press the hair with a T3 SinglePass Luxe to make the hair bone straight.
    • Once stick straight, brush the hair up with a small Mason Pearson brush and sleek all the hair up with L'Oréal OR Graphic Modeling gel on the sides and back of the hair all into a high pony.
    • After this, I looped and tucked the rest of the hair up into a creative knot.

    How-to:

    • I started off by spraying some Kristin Ess Shine Leave in Conditioner to keep her hair hydrated while in this protective hairstyle
    • I started out by sectioning her hair into 1 1/2 inch sections with Harry Josh Pro Tools Carbon Tail Comb, I used a bit of water on each for section to add grip on her type 3 hair-type which is also short along with R + Co Motorcycle Flexible Hair Gel to make sure the braid would not unravel or loosen.
    • I then braided her hair going vertically back and all the way to the end of her hair. I used a bit of African Braiding Thread at the very end of the hair to secure the braids. I repeated this process all over the head.
