Get the Look: Create These 2 Fall Hair Trends

Summer is almost over, but the arrival of fall is a great excuse to encourage your clients to refresh their beauty look. Below, Jill Marcordes, Executive Director of Cosmetology & Nail Technology at Tricoci University of Beauty Culture, highlights two hot hair trends for Fall 2014.

1. "‘Off-duty’ ballerina buns were popular at the Fall 2014 fashion shows," says Marcordes. "If you want to achieve a sleek finish, start with clean hair and use Redken Rewind Styling Paste and a boar bristle brush to achieve smoothness. Or, if you're leaning for more of a textured finish, I recommend using Redken Pillow Proof Two Day Extender to prepare the hair prior to styling. Try back-combing the hair in the center after it has been put into a high ponytail for added volume and a larger bun. To add a twist to the bun, braid a section of hair to wrap around at the end for a unique finish.

2. "A soft, sleek middle part is another emerging fall trend," adds Marcordes. "Middle parts are more ideal for those who have long layers rather than short layers - you can still make short layers look sleek but sometimes the hair may look slightly choppy.  

"In order to create this look, I recommend using Redken Smooth Lock shampoo and conditioner. This product line works well with the hot tools that are required to achieve a sleek look - a blow dryer with a boar bristle brush, as well as a flat iron. The comb will help to give your client shiny, frizz-free, smooth hair. Remember, don’t force a part - it's okay to have the middle part a bit uneven."
