On the runways, designers and stylists dream up headgear that goes beyond the simple headband, barrette or scarf, weaving in surreal elements for fashion’s most outré mavens. A gold-chain fringe at Christian Siriano is a gilt-y pleasure; gloves dangling from a headband don’t seem misplaced at Dolce & Gabbana; and a half-hair/ half-velvet headband at Fendi blends seamlessly with the model’s own strands. Less offbeat, but certainly requiring plenty of beauty brio: jewels that line the roll of a French twist at Elie Saab and a flourish of bright felt feathers at Blugirl. —Karie L. Frost
