Redken stylist and winner of Redken’s Road to NAHA contest, Jasmine Gibbs of Jazz It Up NYC Salon in Brooklyn, NY, was selected as a NAHA 2012 finalist in the categories of New Comer of the Year and Texture! Throughout the Road to NAHA contest, Jasmine had the opportunity to be mentored by Redken’s Education Artistic Director and past NAHA Master Hairstylist of the Year, Kris Sorbie.
In 2011, Redken introduced a new contest to allow stylists to enter for a chance to be part of NAHA with expert coaching from past NAHA winners Kris Sorbie and Chris Baran. By creating a signature look, stylists competed for the opportunity to win a mentorship with one of Redken’s Education Artistic Directors/NAHA Winners and recreate their look with a professional photo shoot in NYC. Jasmine Gibbs and Brooklyn Lane were the 2 winners of the contest and they traveled to NYC in December 2011 to create their photo shoots for 2012 NAHA Submissions.
Over the course of the last few months, Jasmine worked closely with Kris, receiving expert coaching, along with a trip to New York City for a professional photo shoot as she created her signature look to be entered in NAHA 2012. Jasmine, who graduated cosmetology school in November 2010, says “Thank you so much, we had a great team! This would not have been possible without the support of everyone at Redken. I appreciate all the support. I can’t believe this is real. Thank you!”
