P&G Salon Professional Student Stylist Competition

Beauty Launchpad congratulates the winners of the Second Annual Student Stylist Competition at 2012 America’s Beauty Show!

The tension was palpable in the P&G Salon Professional (PGSP) pavilion at America’s Beauty Show (ABS) when, at 1:00 pm on March 5, 2012, the nine finalists in the second annual P&G Salon Professional Student Stylist Competition took to the stage to parade their models and be judged by industry notables.

In the audience were their supporters from cosmetology schools around the country, educators and hundreds of show attendees, along with thousands of students and professionals watching via webcast around the world.

“Unbelievable! That’s what I have to say about our Second Annual Student Competition at ABS,” said Fabio Sementilli, Creative Director, P&G Salon Professional North America, in an interview following the event. “The quality of work that we received this year from all the entrants was so strong that judging to select the finalists was very difficult. And the students were all so confidant—both backstage as they prepared for the final judging and on stage. They were ready to ‘rock ‘n inspire’ and that they did. Our industry is in good hands!”

All first place winners were presented with a check for $1,000, an all-expense paid trip to Los Angeles, CA to attend Wella Professionals North American Trend Vision Awards (NATVA), a one-year supply of PGSP product, and their choice of an in-school education course taught by a top PGSP educator. Second and third places respectively earned with a check for $500 and a one-year supply of PGSP product and a check for $250 and one year supply of PSGP product.

This year PGSP also introduced its Instructor of the Year Award, as the company believes that behind every great student is a great teacher or mentor who fosters growth and provides inspiration. The award was added to recognize the instructors and mentors in beauty schools and salons throughout North America.

“The Instructor of the Year Award is near and dear to my heart,” said Sementilli on announcing the winner. “Without them, our future generation of hair stylists would not have the fundamental training that is critical to a successful career path.”

A trophy and all-expense paid trip to Los Angeles, CA to attend the 2012 Wella Professionals North America Trend Vision Awards was presented to the P&G Salon Professional Instructor of the Year, Tommy Ann Wozniak of Avalon School of Cosmetology, Phoenix, AZ.
