    Prada SS 2017

“We’ve done a classic Prada look at the show," said Guido. "We created a side part that looks very masculine, secured with a bobby pin that has a very smooth texture. We’ve also cut about 7 girls’ hair into a masculine bob, for a very classic, very 20’s, 30’s look. It’s fun to see that kind of classic, simple cut again. It looks so smart, chic and elegant. Some of these girls had very long hair before we cut it for the show. With the ponytail, we’re really emphasizing the simplicity with a square line on the forehead. I’m using Guts 10 to give it a little texture, while smoothing it with my fingers. I like to call this look a ‘palette cleanser’ as we’ve been seeing quite complicated looks at these shows; however, by contrast this is extreme in its simplicity.  It’s because of this simplicity and slight hit of masculinity that to me it feels new in some way, resulting in a very classic, hard woman. I think how simple the style and overall look is actually makes quite a statement.”

    Get the Look: Sleek Pony

    1. Part hair in a deep left side part using fingers. Use a spray water bottle to dampen hair.
    2. Pump a pea-size amount of Satinwear 02 Prepping Blow Dry Lotion and use fingers to massage into roots and top of hair.
    3. With a boar bristle brush, blow-dry the top of hair in the direction of the side part to remove volume and flatten the top. Allow the lengths of the hair to dry naturally.
    4. Secure side part with a single bobby pin. Smooth hair at the crown to give the hairline a strong, square-like appearance.
    5. Use fingers to pull hair into a low ponytail, keeping the sides tight. There should be a slight gap between the hair tie and the base of the neck. Secure with a plain elastic.
    6. Apply Guts 10 Volume Spray Foam throughout the length of the ponytail using fingers to get a textured, smooth look.
    7. Smooth hair at the crown with fingertips for a polished, 20’s look.

  • Shiny hair tips and tricks
    Bottega Veneta SS 2017

“For this look, I’ve started out using Redken’s Satinwear 04 to give the hair a sleek look during the blow dry," said Guido. "To complement the sleek look, we’re doing a bit of waves in the back, twisting the hair as it dries to make it natural. When the hair is fully dry, I’ve added a bit of Forceful 23 to clean up and help hold the look. As a finishing touch, we’ve tucked the hair behind the ears and added a pin or jewelry to one side. I think it’s a great masculine/feminine look. From the front, the hair is quite masculine, but then when you see it from the side, the jewelry and waves add a lot of femininity. This is a modern woman who is very pulled together in an elegant way.”

    Get the Look: Modern Elegance

    1. Dampen hair with water.
    2. Using fingers, create a clean natural part on the left side and make a square hairline around the forehead area.
    3. Add a pea-sized amount of Satinwear 04 to damp hair to heat-protect and smooth hair.
    4. Blow-dry until top of head is smooth and allow the ends to dry naturally.
    5. Create a 2-inch French braid on the right side.
    6. Secure the braid using a black elastic and bobby pins.
    7. Insert the brooch into the French braid until secure. Note, the French braid should be completely covered by the brooch.
    8. Use a curling iron in the back to help create loose, natural looking waves.
    9. Tuck hair behind the ears to finish the look and use a bit of Forceful 23 Super Strength Hairspray to help hold the style.
  • Retro layered hair styles for women
    Versace SS 2017

“We’re doing stick-straight hair with layers here at the Versace show," said Guido. "We’ve actually cut some of the girls’ hair to add bangs and additional layers into the hair. It seems like we’ve cut a lot of girls’ hair again this year – every designer likes to have girls with cool haircuts. For the girl’s hair we didn’t cut, it’s a really straight hair look. I think the layers add a rock ‘n’ roll, 50-ish look. It’s fun to see straight hair again now. It feels fresh again to see hair this ironed. When you take someone with curly hair and you make it straight, you can show a different face, a different personality. I’m using Pillow Proof as a blow dry primer to protect hair along with Align 12 to help the hair stay smooth and straight. Heat protection is key when you’re ironing the hair. At the end, I’m using Forceful 23 to hold the look.”

Get the Look: Rock & Roll Layers

    1. Create a clean center part. Use a spray water bottle to dampen hair.
    2. Squeeze a pea-sized amount of Pillow Proof Blow Dry Express Treatment Primer Cream into palms and distribute evenly throughout hair to heat-protect and shorten blow-dry time.
    3. Follow with a pea-sized amount of Align 12 Protective Smoothing Lotion to help keep hair strong and shiny.
    4. Begin blow-drying hair with a boar bristle brush, placing the blow dryer close to the hairline.
    5. After blow-drying each section, quickly place a hand on the area just exposed by heat, then smooth hair with a downward movement to help keep hair straight.
    6. Use a flat iron on all areas until completely straight so the hair tightly frames the face.
    7. Finish by spraying a small amount of Forceful 23 Super Strength Hairspray onto hands and lightly smoothing over on top of the head to tame fly-aways.
  • Half up hairstyles for long hair
    Dolce & Gabbana SS 2017

According to Guido, “This look is the ultimate Dolce woman: feminine, pretty, soft. We have some girls with an updo, some girls with their hair all the way down, and some girls with their hair half-pinned back. I’m using Wind Blown 05 in all looks to really emphasize that lived in, personal texture. We’ve added flowers and headpieces to add a bit of glamour. Every girl wants to be a Dolce girl, I think.”
