Recreate Your Favorite Beauty Looks from the 2017 SAG Awards

Hollywood’s awards season is officially underway and at Sunday night’s 23rd Annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards, stars once again brought their beauty A-game to the red carpet. Sleek strands, like Kerry Washington and Sophia Vergara’s high-shine looks, ruled the evening, while bold brows and metallic makeup, as seen on Kate Hudson, Maisie Williams and Taraji P. Henson added a heavy dose of drama.

Flip through the slideshow below to see some of our favorite hair, makeup and nail looks from the 2017 SAG Awards — plus the how-tos you need to recreate them in the salon!

  • Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Simply Chic Style

Inspiration: A tribute to Mary Tyler Moore
    Hairstylist: Matthew Monzon

    Get the Look:

    1. Starting with freshly washed and lightly conditioned hair, Monzon used BC Bonacure Excellium Taming Shampoo with Q10+ + Omega-3, and BC Excellium Taming Conditioner WITH Q10+ + Omega-3, both from Schwarzkopf Professional. "I used Schwarzkopf Professional's BC Excellium Taming with Q10+ + Omega-3 range on Julia Louis-Dreyfus' mature, thick, curly, color-treated hair — perfect for coarse, colored, aging hair, it was the key to creating her 2017 SAG Awards look," says Monzon.
    2. Since he wanted a smooth, predominately straight style, Monzon took a quarter-sized amount of the BC Excellium Taming Milk with Q10+ + Omega-3 emulsified in his hands, then distributed it through the hair, from the mid-shaft through the ends.
    3. To achieve volume and body in the hair, he used Schwarzkopf Professional’s BC Excellium Plumping Soufflé WITH Q10+ + Collagen and combed through the hair from root, to ends.
    4. He then proceeded to blow-dry the hair, lifting it with his hands to get the bulk of the moisture out. He lifted sections of the hair with a large round brush, to give the hair a smooth and shiny finish.
    5. Once a section of hair was finished, Monzon placed Julia’s hair in large velcro  rollers, working his way from the back of her head to the front. He left the rollers in for 20 minutes, while Julia was whisked off to makeup.
    6. Once the rollers had cooled, he removed them and brushed through the hair.
    7. Creating a shallow center part, and taking a two-inch barrel iron, Monzon smoothed the hair, and gave the ends a subtle flip.
    8. He finished off the look with Schwarzkopf Professional’s OSiS+ Elastic Finish Hairspray to lock it all into place.

  • Julie Bowen’s Chic Half-Up ‘Do

Inspiration: Bowen’s lace J. Mendel gown
    Hairstylist: Jill Crosby

    Get the Look:

    1. “I began with damp hair and blew out with my T3 Featherweight Luxe 2i Dryer and the T3
    2. Anti-Gravity round brush creating a middle part,” says Crosby. “It’s very important to dry hair with the concentrator rather than the round brush because we wanted to make the hair super straight and flat to the head.
    3. “Next, I used my T3 SinglePass Luxe flat iron to straighten the hair in sections.
    4. “To [add] length to her chin-length hair, we added in extensions.
    5. “The most important part of creating a look with extensions is marrying the hair’s natural texture with the extension’s texture. To do this, every time I added in a new extension, I flat ironed the natural hair with the extension to blend them together.
    6. “Once the hair is completely flat ironed, I trimmed the extensions and pinned the hair half up to finish the look.”

    2. “Next, I blew out the hair with the T3 Featherweight Luxe 2i Dryer and the T3 Anti-gravity round brush in sections, creating a deep side part.
    3. “Once hair was completely dry, I used the T3 SinglePass X 1.5” Flat Iron to straighten the hair in one-inch sections, starting with the bottom layer and working my way up.
    4. “To smooth the areas around the ears and at the edge of the hair line, I switched to the T3 SinglePass Luxe 1” Flat Iron.
    5. “I added length to the hair by applying extensions which I straightened with the T3 SinglePass X 1.5” Flat Iron.
    6. “To finish, I brushed hair together and spritzed with hairspray. Expert tip: To secure the deep side part, I used the T3 Featherweight Luxe 2i Dryer and finger combed around the part until the hairspray was dry.”

    3. “I created a deep side part with a comb and began to curl the hair with my Revlon Pro Collection 1" Soft Feel Curling Iron, curling the hair toward the face for a retro feel. After curling, I sprayed the hair with MOP C-System Firm Finish Hairspray to hold the curl.
