Recognized for his over-the-top wigs and fashion pieces made out of Hairdreams real human hair, Charlie Le Mindu presented his new Fall/Winter 2012 collection at the recent Fashion Weeks in London and Paris. Celebrating bold, clean lines and art deco inspired shapes through headpieces and haute coiffure, the latest collection references influences from Charlie’s native France with Toile de Jouey and lilac-hued hair tones. The new fashion collection is notably named “Charl de Jouy” and is inspired by the glamorous futurism of the thirties and elements of the French classicism. Geometric forms of art deco are combined with “Toile de Jouy” patterns from the 17th century. In this collection, Charlie - a graduate of the French Hair Academy - returns to his roots by focusing on the head, and showcasing spectacular head pieces made with Hairdreams hair extensions. A head-turning highlight of the collection is a floor length evening dress made out of thousands of violet Hairdreams strands.
The “Master of Haute Coiffure” surprised the audience not only with his new, one of a kind creations but also because of an unexpected performance that brought his collection to life with a musical number channeling the film Grease‘s “Beauty School Dropout.” Charlie’s breakout as a musical star was directed by Europe’s unconventional filmmaker Zoe Hitchen in the form of a music video, which was also presented during the Paris and London Fashion Weeks. His performance was most likely inspired by his numerous collaborations on music videos for Lady Gaga, Florence and the Machine and many more.
The biggest announcement of the night came from Charlie himself: he has been named “Avant-Garde Hair Director” at London‘s prestigious flagship department store “Harrods”. Starting this summer, Charlie will regularly appear at luxurious beauty oasis “Urban Retreat” in his very own designated section to style the hair of fashion-conscious Harrods clients with loads of hair extensions from Hairdreams.
