Third Annual Making the Cut Competition Winner Announced

Scott Fontana, creator of Making The Cut live hair and fashion show, held the third annual competition on Oct. 5 at the Avalon Hollywood. The dramatic event during LA Fashion Week consisted of five finalists battling live onstage to showcase their talents in front of hundreds of community members and industry professionals. Contestants also competed in front of an esteemed judging panel, who went on to name Dennis Lee of Armando Joshua Christopher Salon as Southern California’s Top Stylist 2015.

Making the Cut is the beauty industry’s only live hair competition of its kind. This year’s title sponsors included L’Oréal Professionnel and Kérastase, along with supporting sponsors CoverGirl, Scott Fontana Collection, Yachts for Tots, 50 Blue Vodka, California Fruit and Wine Company, Pry Yo and Peroni, to name a few. Building on the success of the show over the past two years, this year’s high-end, professionally produced event and competition featured live hair cutting and styling on stage by Southern California’s leading stylists. Beauty industry elite comprised the judging panel, including: Scott Fontana, Frank Galasso, Shanna Moakler and E!’s Marc Malkin.

This year’s event included an opening performance by Scott Fontana, a stage production featuring live cutting and styling from Making the Cut’s five finalists, and a hair and fashion show. Up against top competition, the judges chose Dennis Lee as the winner. Lee has worked professionally as a hair designer and stylist for more than 25 years.  Currently working at the prestigious Armando Joshua Christopher Salon in Newport Beach, Lee plans to continue his art of hair and maintaining his title of Southern California’s Top Stylist.

The other four finalists in the show were runner-up, Dasi B of Dasi B Salon, Jessica Montgomery of Studio Salon, Aubree Hill of Huxley Salon and Egle Miciene of Cristophe Salon Beverly Hills.
