Let’s not sugarcoat it—Fashion Week is one of the most hectic, frenzied and chaotic weeks for designers, stylists, models, photographers and editors. But, it’s also one of the most exhilarating. Still, things can change at a moment’s notice and throw anyone off their game. At Christian Siriano, Sebastian Professional lead hairstylist Anthony Cole is nothing but calm, cool and collected even though the hair design did a 180-degree earlier in the morning. “We started with a dry, off-the-face wave, but as we were doing it we thought it was getting too literal.
Though the buzz and curiosity about IBX started to spread at the beginning of January, Famous Names kept priorities focused on the United States domestic launch of IBX at the International Salon and Spa Expo in Long Beach, California.
At Rebecca Taylor, Oribe lead hairstylist Rolando Beauchamp spiels off a multitude of phrases and words to describe the woman in the collection and her locks. “She’s a very sophisticated but downtown girl. She’s a cool girl you'd maybe see in Nolita or the East Village. She’s a girl that’s had her hair done but she's been running around and her hair's gotten rough. She's young, she's fresh, she’s modern, she’s edgy … she’s real—hey there’s another word. Real!” he laughs.
The inspiration behind catwalk nails often gets more play than the manicurist who created the look, but not so at Raul Penaranda’s Fall 2014. The reason: The lead nail artist is 13-year-old Alanna Wall, founder of Polished Girlz, a nonprofit organization that brings lively mani parties to kids in hospitals. At the tender age of 8, Wall determined to knit scarves for every girl diagnosed with cancer.

Rock the Look: Stylists Giving Back was born! The event which will take place on May 17, 2014 in Waterloo, Iowa, will host around 500 attendees and benefit St. Jude Children Research Hospital.

While celebs commonly fill the front row seats and front of houses at many NYFW shows, they’re rarely seen backstage prepping to strut their stuff down the runways. But at the Go Red For Women/The Heart Truth Red Dress Collection fashion show, TV personalities, actresses, models, singers and athletes swarm the backstage area as they ready to go red and rock the runway to raise awareness for heart disease. Think: Bella Thorne; Ireland Baldwin; Lindsey Vonn; and Giada De Laurentiis to name a few.
