Michael's Salon and Spa owner Michael Schuh recently sponsored a contest amongst four cosmetology schools. This gorgeous, vibrant purple color, created and modeled by colorist Christina Thomson, was selected as the winner.When creating the look, Christina was inspired to create a color that truly stood out. She used PRAVANA color, alternating colors of Violet with a small addition of Pink as well as Magenta, foiled throughout the head. She then mixed equal parts Wild Orchid and Violet and applied it to the hair between the foils.
October marks Domestic Violence Awareness month and highlights an issue that continues to affect countless women, men and children on a daily basis. The Professional Beauty Association’s (PBA) CUT IT OUT: Salons Against Domestic Abuse program is dedicated to mobilizing salon professionals and others to fight the epidemic of domestic abuse in communities across the United States by building awareness and training salon professionals to recognize warning signs and safely refer clients, colleagues, friends and family to local resources.
Michael's Salon model Amanda was interested in cutting bangs, but was afraid to make such a big change to her hair without first knowing what it would look like. Stylist Ashley O'Dell used clip-in bangs from the company "Xtensify" so Amanda could get the look of bangs before actually cutting her hair. She loved them so much that she bought her own. Rather than cutting her hair, she can clip-in the bangs whenever she wants a different look!
