Stronger TogetherWithin our fast-changing industry, do you crave to make your unique voice heard and establish a point of difference? Are you passionate about developing, growing and, most importantly, sharing your skill set? If so, becoming a Matrix educator might offer up a golden path to success. The brand shuns an “army of robots” approach, notes assistant vice president of field education Anna Manukyan—instead building a team of creative individuals whose talents make each other stronger, with an education management force focusing on artists’ development. “Unless you take that first step, you never know what doors will open, the options that will unfold,” Manukyan enthuses. “We’re building the best version of you—whether you’re teaching in small salons or large stages. It’s such a rich feeling of empowerment.”

Stylists can visit matrixprofessional.com to apply, or contact a local salesperson to connect with one of Matrix’s 13 regional education managers nationwide. Stylists with at least two years of experience submit a résumé, review their portfolio at an audition with the manager, then attend a two-day new hire training. After six to nine months of trainings and self-study, certified educators start teaching classes in the field. “We’re an accessible brand, but really it’s all about the energy and skill you bring to the team,” Manukyan relates. “You have to really love learning and sharing knowledge—going in it for personal instant gratification, you’ll miss the magic that happens.”

Two yearly artist trainings further sharpen skills, while educator opportunities include hair shows, special projects and teaching abroad. Programs of Passion—developed by artists, for artists—boast high-caliber fi eld education around the country, while Craft Academy classes at store-based training centers are led by top-notch regional artists. Matrix’s 400 U.S. educators include NAHA winners, celebrity stylists and local artists alike; the range of skill sets and backgrounds builds a superstrong squad. “We seek to connect with stylists from all walks of life—not just the elite or exclusive—and we’re always looking for new talent to join our team,” Manukyan concludes. “Our education philosophy is that we truly are stronger together.”
