Sonya Dove to Serve as Intercoiffure America / Canada Hair Color Council Creative Director

Intercoiffure America / Canada (ICA) President Lois Christie has recently announced that industry icon Sonya Dove—known for being one half of the hairstyling duo behind The Doves Studio in Santa Monica, California—has accepted the position of Hair Color Council Creative Director. Sonya will officially accept this three-year position at the Fall Atelier in 2013. Her predecessor, Gina Khan, served in the role for six years.

"We are very excited to have Sonya take on this role to ensure the continued success of the Hair Color Council. Her vision will be vital in moving the Council forward," states ICA President Lois Christie. "The skills and ideas that Sonya will bring to the Council will certainly bring great benefit to our members."

Sonya and Christopher Dove are widely recognized as the hair industry’s most sought-after stylists. Icons in the modern hair industry, The Doves are celebrities in their own right. The Doves’ reign in the hair industry—one that has lasted for more than 20 years—has earned them prestigious accolades, including Hair Color USA’s "Hair Colorists of the Year," the first recipients of "Masters Hairstylists of the Year" by the North American Hairstylist Association, Hair Color USA’s "Most Inspiring Hair Colorists" and the prestigious Icon Award by The Professional Beauty Association and The National Cosmetology Association, which honored their legacy in the hairdressing industry. Most recently, The Doves were awarded with the Wella Ambassadors award for 2012.

Their solid reputation in the industry paved the way for their current role as Wella’s Creative Directors, working extensively with the brand’s educational programs and worldwide hair shows.  Recently, the Doves announced an exclusive high profile collaboration with luxury hair extension brand Hairdreams, educating stylists in worldwide tradeshows as the brand's media spokespeople and platform artists.
