As a self-proclaimed "Japanophile," Aveda Global Artistic Director for Hair Cutting, Ricardo Dinis revealed that the inspiration behind his East-meets-West Aveda Congress 2013 presentation was the shape of the traditional Japanese kimono. Dinis especially emphasized the triangular shape of the kimono's sleeves by creating graphic, angled haircuts that featured strong lines and a mixture of male and female cutting techniques in order to create androgynous shapes.
