Runway Report: The Up-Do Goes Up and Down at Zang Toi

Why decide between a chignon and a French twist when you can have both? Lead stylist for Macadamia Professional at Zang Toi, Eiji Yamane, has his cake and we can eat it too with this deliciously dreamy up-do. Yamane knows how to make a woman look glamorous, and this season is no exception. To soften the style, making it more youthful, Yamane emphasizes a middle part instead of a more typical sideways bend. “Usually the chignon points this way,” he explains of the classically wide, horizontal bun’s dimensions. To reinvent his “French Twist Chignon,” Yamane builds the style vertically, adding a hairpiece to the base and wrapping the natural hair around it. “It creates a croissant-like shape,” he describes. It’s a very French inspiration, Yamane affirms of the collection titled, “Brilliant Royal Blue.”

To get an up-do that lasts through the after-party, Yamane chooses his products wisely. He works Macadamia Professional Blow Dry Lotion through locks even before styling. Once hair is ready-to-go he generously mists Macadamia Professional Style Lock Strong Hold Hairspray and tames potential flyaways with Macadamia Professional Whipped Detailing Cream. To ensure hair stays shiny and lustrous, Yamane finishes his million-dollar style with Macadamia Professional Weightless Moisture Dry Oil Micro Mist.
