Simplicity is the name of the game for the beauty at Creatures of Comfort and Davines Lead Stylist Joseph DiMaggio taps into this with his effortless and romantic wavy hair design. “The inspiration behind the collection is a super easy, chill vibe,” he shares. “It’s about being confident with who you are and not spending more than 10 minutes on your hair.” To create the second-day-in hair look, DiMaggio layers Davines Your Hair Assistant Blowdry Primer into the models’ locks and then blow-dries the hair in an upward motion to create volume before crafting a deep side part. Next, he spritzes tresses with Davines Your Hair Assistant Perfecting Hairspray and uses a 1.5-inch flat iron as he twists his wrists and zigzags vertical sections of the hair back and forth. “This gives it a little kick and some texture,” he says. “When you do a vertical section vs. a horizontal one, you get more of a natural feel.”
To create the minimalist yet eye-catching nail design, Unistella founder Eunkyung Park places varying shapes, from circles to triangles, of Unistella Glass Nail Film on the models’ nails and skin below the cuticle. “Why limit yourself to just the nail?” remarks glowrecipe.com co-founder Christine Chang. “We call it shadow art as it extends the length of the nail beyond the nail. It gives you more space to play with!” For the make-up of the glass-shard-like stickers (sold exclusively in the U.S. through glowrecipe.com, an online space for coveted Korean beauty items), Park looked to nature for inspiration, honing in on the iridescent qualities of an abalone shell. “Glass nails have been on fire since last year,” says Chang. “These DIY nail stickers are designed to make it easier for everyone to achieve.”
Shiseido Lead Artist Dick Page opts for a natural makeup design, amping up only the models’ brows but making sure to stick with what nature gave them. “Even if the eyebrow is strong, it still belongs to the girl,” he explains. To craft the au natural look, Page brushes Shiseido Eyebrow Styling Compact through the brows and mixes soft beige-brown, yellow and darker chocolate brown eye shadows with Shiseido Benefiance Full Correction Lip Treatment to melt the colors and create a wet look on the eyelids. To get the perfect pink pout, Shiseido Rouge Rouge in Sweet Desire is applied all-over the lip with just a pop of Shiseido Rouge Rouge in Rouge Rum Punch placed on the center of the lower lip (both colors are available Fall 2016). “We wanted the girls to look rich in the clothes,” says Page. “The look is quite simple and direct.”
