On Sunday, August 23, 2015, Anthony Barnes-Smith, owner of Q Hair and Beauty in Chichester, was surprised by friends, family, and industry elites with a celebration of his 70th birthday AND 55 years in hairdressing. Dubbed "QFest," the fun event was held at Eartham Woods in West Sussex, which had been transformed with a stage, marquees and gazebos as well as a hog roast and barbecue and even an inflatable obstacle course which provided plenty of fun and hilarity for all.
The celebration came as a complete surprise for Barnes-Smith, who has recognized for his remarkable career both nationally and internationally. “These milestones just keep getting better and better,” said Barnes-Smith. “Sharing the celebrations with friends and colleagues was fantastic and it was wonderful to receive so many messages from around the world as well.”
The party, organized by Q managing director Dawn Lawrence, demonstrated the level of community amongst hairdressers - as well as the amount of fun they can have! “I was thrilled to see so many of our friends old and new join us in celebrating Anthony’s 70th birthday and 55 years in the industry," said Lawrence. "Everyone had such an amazing time and the sun shone! I was delighted to see many of our friends from Salon Success, Paul Mitchell and Wonderful Life among the guests, helping to make it a really memorable occasion.”
Among the guests who travelled to West Sussex for the party were Simon Tickler and Ken West of 365 Salon Education, Jack Worrall and Zaine Brookes of Wonderful Life, salon owners Enzo and Jeanette Esposito of Enzorosario, Richard John and Otto Ott of Hair Ott.
