Oribe and Wella Professionals Present Underground: Part 1

A hugely anticipated treat for attendees of the Wella Professionals International Trend Vision Awards weekend, Wella Professionals' Reuben Carranza announced the company's collaboration with celebrity hairstylist Oribe at the P&G Salon Celebration event held at the infamous The Tunnel in NYC. Here, Oribe and Wella team up to show Underground, a quick-change hairstyle presentation that shows iconic styles from different eras in rapid succession set against a background inspired by Tron.

Oribe cuts and coifs iconic styles through the last 10 decades, showcasing his takes on some of the most popular coifs to ever emerge from each decade. From the Gibson Girl to a turquoise-tinted Grace Jones flat-top, the styles rapidly morph at the touch of Oribe's skilled hands. And the haircolor! Salmon pink hyper-bobs and that turquoise flat-top are all treated to Wella Professionals haircolor, expertly applied by Alexandra Matiz and Anthony Palermo. In Part 1, bright tresses are cut into a Marilyn Monroe-esque bob and tight, seemingly fingerwaves are outlined by flourescent trails of light.

"The education collaboration between Oribe and Wella is off to an amazing start, showcasing amazing hairdressing, excitement and energy," says Daniel Kaner, co-president of Oribe Hair Care.

"'Celebration' was the appropriate name for a night that truly honored the art of hairdressing," says Oribe chief marketing officer Dan Langer.
