2015 CFDA nominees Brad Schmidt and Raul Arevalo of Cadet stayed true to their military menswear roots for their first women’s collection at NYFW Spring/Summer 2016. The design duo debuted a modern interpretation of 1940’s World War II-inspired pieces in a muted palette of black and khaki. Lead hairstylist Nathan Nguyen for Oribe Hair Care created a sleek look that was sculpted close to the head on one side and offset with a deep side part on the other to complement the clothes. “I kept in mind the idea of balancing the masculine and feminine,” said Nguyen of the hair. “I wanted the girls to look confident and modern.”

Get the Look:

  1. Prep the hair by spraying Foundation Mist from roots to ends. Follow with Crème for Style, keeping the application light.
  2. Create a deep side part so the hair falls over the right eye. Apply a generous amount of Sculpting Cream to slick back the left side. Use a comb to sculpt the right side of the hair so it curves over the eyebrow and tuck it behind the ear. Pin both sides down in place.
  3. Spray Shine Light Reflecting Spray from mid-shaft to ends and flatiron section by section.
  4. Finish by spraying Dry Texturizing Spray throughout the length of the hair to create a little lived-in texture.
