“I don’t believe in playing it safe,” Orlando Pita divulges backstage at Carolina Herrera as he inserts another copper hairpin into a chignon. This sentiment is clearly reflected in the details of the romantic updo he’s creating with the help of T3 products: Carefully placed clusters of metallic fasteners and patina-finished bronze flowers punctuate the style, the latter of which he plucked from shoes and handbags in Herrera’s collection. “I didn’t want to simply pile on the pins,” Pita asserts, adding, “The way they’re arranged allows the style to read a little younger, more modern. I think they look a little bit like fashion armor.”

Aside from the metal-and-petal-perfect extras, the coif boasts a square-shape and height at the front and crown—an ode to how Herrera herself wears her hair. Also important to the upstyle: texture, which, Pita notes, lends a “windswept” feel. First applying Plump Styling Set for increased volume and using a Bespoke Evolution hair dryer for a quick blow out, he then mists Renew Dry Conditioner to beef up piece-y texture. After spritzing Control Hair Spray on his hands, he rakes his fingers through the hair, further enhancing the effect, and tucks the ends under for a thrown-together appearance. —Karie L. Frost
