Do your clients ask for Kim Kardashian's hairstyle? Philip Wolff from Shades Salon in Beverly Hills, CA is the stylist behind Kim's gorgeous long locks. Philip shares his tips for healthy long hair:
1. Keep up on haircuts. Depending on length and texture, you want to reshape every 6-10 weeks at the most. Waiting too long can cause one to have to cut more than desired and then that defeats the purpose. Long hair is only good if it's healthy hair.
2. Haircare products are very important as well. Make sure to follow your hairstylist's recommendations for your hair type and texture when it comes to product. Most store bought brands are meant to have an indefinite shelf life, therefore have more preservatives and the integrity of the ingredients aren't as nice to the hair. Instead of using more naturally based materials, they go for a cheaper, chemical based ingredient.
3. Make sure you balance the use of proper haircare. Sometimes over doing it can have negative effects as well. The more you do to your hair, (color, highlight, blowdry, curl, relax, flat iron) the more product you should use to off set the negative effects of that such as using thermal protectors. But if your hair is natural and you don't blowdry or curl as much, you don't need to use a strong reparative conditioner at the first signs of a split end. Over-conditioning will affect the way the hair styles as well.
Tip: If you're looking for a sexy curl or wave to stay all night, either don't condition your hair that day, do only the ends quickly or use a light leave in detangler. The texture left behind from just shampooing along with a texture spray will help your waves stay all night!
