Hair Styles How To: Bubble are the Key to this Season’s Updos

Bubbles Upstyle Finished Look

Sam Villa, Founding Partner of the Sam Villa® brand and Education Artistic Director for Redken 5th Avenue loves the Bubble Technique, because it is a very simple and fast way to create a beautiful updo that looks complex.  Prom, wedding and holiday updos have never been easier and more profitable!

Tools:
Sam Villa Textur Iron
Elastic Bands
Hair Pins – with one foot of the pin bent out and upward about ¼” to prevent slipping

Bubbles Technique:
·Apply Redken iron shape 11 (to protect, lock in thermal styling and preserve color) and directionally blow dry.

·Texturize the entire head with the Sam Villa Textur Iron – the added texture creates a foundation for the Bubbles and a fuller look.

·Create six sections of ponytails.

·Place elastic bands around the ponytails at about 2-3 thumbs apart down the entire length of each ponytail.

·Take piece of hair from the end of a ponytail, hold it in one hand and take hold of the last elastic with the other hand and push toward the next elastic - you will see the hair form the first Bubble.

·Keep hold of the small amount of hair at the end of the ponytail and go to the next elastic and push - Bubbles can all be the same size or different.

·Repeat until the elastic closest to the scalp.

·Separate the ends of each ponytail.

·Once all the ponytails are bubbled, pin them into an interesting silhouette and tuck the ends under (or leave out) – get creative and have fun with it!

·Finish with Redken control addict 28 high-control hairspray.
