Hair News: Ted Gibson's $1200 Haircut

Celebrity hairstylist Ted Gibson will raise the price of his haircut from $950 to $1200, effective January 1, 2013. With a current wait time of one month to eight weeks, Gibson deems the price increase necessary given his increasing popularity and demand for his services. Gibson touts his haircuts as being “a luxurious, 5-star experience” wherein each guest receives a stress relieving treatment with hot towels, shampoo, conditioning treatment, haircut, blow-dry and style all from Gibson himself. With his haircut already considered the most expensive salon haircut in the world, he believes his services are more than worth the price. “I’m making Hollywood accessible to the Upper East Side woman. The woman from NJ. The woman whose husband wants to give her a gift for the holidays,” says Gibson. “Hair – more than the anything else- dictates how a woman feels about who she really is. I strive to make sure that every client who sits in my chair feels pampered and loved. I’m providing her with more than a haircut – it’s an experience.”

Best known for coiffing some of Hollywood’s top starlets, Gibson has worked with celebrities including Ashley Greene, Gabrielle Union, Angelina Jolie, Anne Hathaway and Jessica Chastain. His work has appeared in publications such as  Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, Marie Claire, Vanity Fair, Cosmopolitan, Rolling Stone, and Allure and backstage at runway shows such as Chanel, Prada, and Dolce & Gabbana. Ted also owns the well-known Flatiron salon in NYC, which is frequented by everyone from top models and actresses to everyday New York women. He recently opened another salon at the W Fort Lauderdale. Gibson is currently the hair guru on TLC’s hit show “What Not to Wear” and spokesperson for Beauty Changes Lives.
