Hair News: Ruth Roche Joins the Beauty Underground Artistic Team

According to Charlie Price, Founder of Beauty Underground and head of the Beauty Underground Artistic Team, “We are photographers, hairdressers, makeup artists, fashion stylists and models that create illicit spontaneous fashion and fearless beauty. We refuse to be controlled by anything but our desire to take dramatic, provocative, and beautiful pictures.” This focus on creative expression and a certain fearlessness was exactly what attracted Ruth Roche, Artistic Ambassador for Pureology Serious Colour Care, to join Price's team during fashion week.

“We’re so excited to have Ruth on the team; it establishes our credibility and will help increase awareness for the team and what we stand for,” says Price.

“This is a wildly talented group of people that inspire me… they’re rebels [and] my inner rebel is excited to come out and play,” added Roche.

The Beauty Underground Artistic Team is comprised of people who want to collaborate with others in the name of art and inspiration. There are no advertisers or sponsors and it’s non-product specific, so members can truly let their rebel out and about. “It’s an avenue for creativity… without a specific brand to represent, we can go wild, which feels so good!” says Price. The only guidelines are committing to working one project and one event a year with the team.

During New York Fashion Week, The Beauty Underground Team, consisting of Shareena Reardon/Aveda, Jill Leitz/Redken, Nekisa Addis/Sebastian and Oribe, Lisa Vann/Aveda, and Katie Nielsen/Scruples, did the hair for the Costello Tagliapietra AW 2015 show, held at Lincoln Center. Roche joined in for the Jay Godfrey presentation, also held at Lincoln Center.

“It’s so important for hairdressers to continue to be inspired to foster their creativity - it not only fuels their artistry, it keeps them sharp, focused and connected,” says Roche.
