Earthly Body Gives Back

Natural hair and skin care brand Earthly Body has recently been actively involved in giving back to the community.

In mid September, Earthly Body co-founder Kevin Wachs was contacted by Rachel Lemon, a hairdresser who uses Marrakesh Haircare in her salon. Lemon had lost her home and her car in the Valley Fire that devastated the Middletown, CA area. More than 1,000 homes were destroyed, including her mother's. As the town struggles to recover, Lemon is offering free haircuts to those displaced and is passing out free Marrakesh shampoos and conditioners with the service. Wachs explained, “Donating the product was a no brainer because at the end of the day, we work in an industry that really helps people feel better about themselves. While nothing can replace what has been lost, any gesture big or small helps. And it’s our pleasure to be a part of that.”

In addition, Earthly Body teamed up with The Rescue Train as a sponsor for its Southern California “Race for the Rescues” event on Oct. 24 to raise money for saving animal lives. The company offered its Facebook followers a user code for its Marrakesh and Earthly Body websites, and every product purchased with the code up until race day resulted in a $1 donation to The Rescue Train. Owner Kevin Wachs and son Nick were out at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Ca for the 10th anniversary of the race, which included a 5K, 10K and expo. The donations raised through the race are used to help save the lives of once forgotten dogs, cats and horses while also providing important programs to the community such as veterinary care for the pets of low-income families, free spay and neuter clinics and a shelter intervention program.
