Create Gorgeous Style for Your Party Girls

The holidays are my favorite time of hair! This is the season when soirées, fêtes and festive get-togethers abound. It is also the season when our guests are more inclined to ask you to mix it up a bit and create a stunning style for the company party or another fabulous party.

Be prepared to create a gorgeous style for your party girls. Maybe a sophisticated twist for long hair or brushed out finger waves for shorter or chin length hair. Whatever style is on her holiday wish list, have a few tricks at your fingertips. Here are a few easy styles I did for Paul Mitchell’s holiday collection. They are sophisticated, modern and flirty (and most important…they are easy)!

2.    Using the Express Ion Dry TurboLight and the Express Ion Round XL, begin drying the hair.
3.    Take medium-sized sections and over-direct the hair while drying. Roll the brush down to the scalp after the hair is dry, apply heat and then allow the hair to cool before removing the brush.
4.Create a triangle section on the top of the head. Using the Express Ion Curl, create on-base curls in the triangular section and clip to cool.
5.Brush out the cooled curls and clip out of the way.
6.Clip away the hair from the ear forward on the left side only. With the remaining hair in the back, create a smooth ponytail. Spray Hold Me Tight to as needed for control.
7. Separate the ponytail into smaller sections and using a dressing brush or the Teasing Brush, backcomb the topside and underside of each section. Spray each section lightly with Extra-Body Finishing Spray to add more control.
8. Using the dressing brush or the Teasing Brush, smooth the surfaces of the ponytail.
9. Pin a hairnet into the band and cover the tail. Push the tail to one side and pin into place.
10.Take the ponytail and roll it to the other side. Spread the hair up to cover the back of the head and pin into place.
11. On the side section, backcomb the inside for a strong foundation. Smooth the outside areas, and pull the hair over the roll in the back, pin into place and tuck the ends in.
12. Moving to the top section, backcomb the underneath and base areas and spray Hold Me Tight for added control. Roll the top section over, style as desired and pin into place.
13. Apply Extra-Body Finishing Spray to lock in the style, and finish with Awapuhi Wild Ginger Shine Spray.

Steps:
1. Mix Thicken Up and Quick Slip together and apply to damp hair. Apply Sculpting Foam next and comb through the hair. Create a side parting.
4. Beginning at the top of the head, take 1-inch triangular sections and lightly spray Hold Me Tight. Using the Express Ion Curl, create on-base curls throughout the top and sides of the hair, clipping each curl in and allowing to cool.
5. In the back, create a triangle by sectioning from the round of the right side of the head, behind the already curled side section, diagonally over to behind the opposite side section, and clip away.
6. Next, create another triangular shape by sectioning from the left side section diagonally to just above the right ear, and clip away.
7. Section from the top of the right ear diagonally to just below the left ear and clip away to create another triangular section.
8. Beginning in the nape, curl the hair in triangular sections off-base and rolled under. Continue curling the hair in triangular sections throughout all the sections, curling the hair slightly more on-base as you work your way back to the top.
9. Allow the curls to cool completely.
10. Next, break up the curls using the Detangler Comb. Use a 413 Sculpting Brush and gently backcomb throughout the top as needed for extra volume.
11. Apply Extra-Body Finishing Spray to lock in the style, and finish with Awapuhi Wild Ginger Shine Spray.
