Cre8 Salon & Spa to Help Raise $45K for Harry Chapin Food Bank

Cre8 Salon & Spa is preparing to send an army of stylists to wage a war against hunger. From 9AM to 4PM on April 6, Cre8 stylists will lend their sheers – and sheer talent – to help raise $45,000 for the Harry Chapin Food Bank as part of the “Stylists Unite to Help Cut Hunger” event at The Salon Professional Academy’s new location in Fort Myers, FL.

A combined force of about 200 local stylists is expected to turn out to cut hunger, one haircut at a time. By offering their professional services for a minimum $15 donation per haircut, Cre8’s dedicated contingent is determined to make a difference at the Cut-a-Thon. However, there is no time like the present, and Cre8 and the other participating salons and spas are already raising money and collecting food prior to the event.

The Harry Chapin Food Bank provides direct services to those in need, including church food pantries, soup kitchens, emergency shelters, disaster relief agencies and more. Today, the food bank provides food for more than 30,000 individuals each month. In 2012 alone, the Harry Chapin Food Bank distributed 16.6 million pounds of food, provided 13.8 million meals, and turned every $1 into $6 worth of food for those in need.

That means if the Cut-a-Thon reaches its goal, the food bank can turn that $45,000 into $270,000 worth of food, which could feed 30,000 people for 9 months! The stylists will also collect as many perishable food items and grocery store gift cards at the event as possible.

Joining the local stylists, Redken’s national and international artists Brayden Pelletier, Ryan Morgan and Leah Hanson, as well as Matrix’s artist Tara Koenig will also be cutting hair for a minimum donation of $15 per haircut.

Marcy Sagorac, owner of Cre8 Salon & Spa, said, “I can always count on our stylists and staff to engage with important community causes. All the stylists and volunteers involved are to be commended for giving so freely of their time to the Harry Chapin Food Bank, which does such great work in Southwest Florida.”
