ColorProof® Color Care Authority sponsored the Hualālai ‘Ohana Foundation at their 13th Annual Golf & Auction Event, the foundation’s primary fundraising effort each year. The ‘Ohana Foundation strives to support the educational goals and medical needs of the Four Seasons Resort Hualālai employee families while providing residents the opportunity to contribute to the greater community. ColorProof Founders, Jim and Cheryl Markham, along with International Creative Director, Phillip Wilson, and Director of Education, Mary Wilson, attended the event which began with a golf tournament at the Keolu course in the morning, followed by an evening of dinner, dancing and a silent auction at the Hualālai Ballroom. As a ‘President’s Club’ sponsor, the brand provided a monetary donation to the foundation that since its inception has awarded more than $3,900,000 for education needs and $900,000 in medical assistance.

Jim and Cheryl Markham built their vacation home in Hualālai, which is located on the North Kona Coast of Hawaii’s Big Island in 2014. “We chose Hualālai not only for the stunning beauty of the location, but also the genuine aloha spirit of the entire community,” Jim said. “It is the people of Hualālai that make it a truly unique place to be, and it is an honor to give back to the local community that has made us feel so welcome.”

“We have made personal connections with many of the employees of Hualālai and have seen firsthand, the foundation’s efforts make a substantial difference to offset the high costs of education and medical care," Cheryl added. "Medical resources are limited on the island, often making treatment on the mainland a necessity. Last year, an employee’s son was diagnosed with a rare cancer and at the recommendation of his doctors, be treated at a New York hospital specializing in his illness. The foundation helped cover the cost of his treatment when medical insurance fell short and ensured his parents would be by his side. Research has shown that cancer patients respond better to treatment with a friend or family member is present, which the ‘Ohana Foundation believes in, as well. We are happy to hear that he is now in remission.”
