Goldwell hair care experts have announced the 2012 Color Zoom Challenge US Finalists. This year the United States received a record number of entries in the three Color Zoom Challenge Categories: Creative Colorist, Partner Colorist, and New Talent Colorist. In June, the entries were narrowed to fifteen semi-finalists and were then judged by a Global Panel of independent industry experts and international stylists at the Goldwell hair care Headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany.

The Goldwell hair care team has announced the 2012 Color Zoom Challenge US Semi-Finalists. This year the United States received a record number of entries in the three Color Zoom Challenge Categories: Creative Colorist, Partner Colorist and New Talent. Goldwell hair care experts brought together a prestigious judging panel that included: Goldwell Brand Celebrity Stylist, Rona O’Connor; Special Creative Artist, Nick Arrojo; Co-Founder of Hairbrained.me, Randy Taylor; as well as an esteemed team of industry media editors. 

Cosmetology students at the Parisian Beauty Academy in Hackensack, NJ received a royal send-off this month, when a very special guest turned up at their graduation ceremony. World renowned color educator, salon owner and head of Minardi Luxury Color Care Collection Beth Minardi, delivered the commencement address for the 225 students in the class of summer/2012.  And in characteristic “Minardi” style, she gave it to them straight! 

2012 CITY Award Winners
The Independent Cosmetic Manufacturers and Distributors (ICMAD) announces the winners of the seventh annual Cosmetic Innovators of The Year (CITY) Awards, which took place on Wednesday, June 20th at the Manhattan Penthouse in New York City. With a record-breaking increase of 180% applicants, the CITY Awards solidified their position in the industry as the place where entrepreneurs are recognized for their achievements.

After two days of judging, InStyler Professional’s Dean Banowetz helped to crown Whitney Wood, as Miss Idaho 2012 on June 9. The event, which included 20 contestants, was held at Swayne Auditorium on the campus of Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho. The Miss Idaho pageant is part of the Miss America organization, which is the world's largest provider of scholarship assistance to young women. Ms. Wood will now go on the compete in the Miss America pageant in January 2013.

During the 21st edition of the Dutch Coiffure Award Gala, Hester Wernert-Rijn won the most desired award, Hairdresser of the Year, for the second time in a row. The jury report said: "Strong individual images with very diverse structures. The collection represents every aspect of modern hair fashion in the cuts, styling and color."

Salon Week, the customer appreciation event that connects the country’s top stylists, announced that their second event will occur on October 1 – 7, 2012. The event will return to Boston and will also expand to New York and New Jersey.

The Murad Family Foundation, a charitable organization dedicated to advancing the health of Southern California’s children by expanding access to fitness and nutrition education, announced that they have formed a partnership with Beach City Baseball Academy (BCBA) in El Segundo, CA with the purpose of providing free baseball lessons to children of all ages with special needs.

The beauty industry is mourning the loss of Roger Perreault, who passed away at age 69 on May 31, 2012 at his home in Longs, South Carolina. This well-loved industry veteran began his career in 1969 as a distributor sales consultant at the A.J. Houle Beauty Supply Company (currently NEKA Salon Network) in Manchester, New Hampshire, where he eventually became a partner. In 1983, he sold his interest in the company and moved to California spending the next 25 years immersed in the beauty industry.
