The Discover Beauty program, an exclusive initiative of Cosmoprof North America (CPNA), returns for its seventh successful year of matching leading retailers with emerging beauty brands in 2013. Companies from all over the world must be approved to participate in Discover Beauty, ensuring an exclusive array of unique, cutting-edge brands that are sure to be the "next big thing." For these brands, CPNA show organizers arrange pre-scheduled sales meetings and events with important retailers; however, the area is open to all attendees throughout the 3-day event.
Macadamia Natural Oil, a premium, professional hair care manufacturer based in Chatsworth, California, recently elected John Maly, in addition to Lori Krebs and Jack Gallagher, to the company’s Board of Directors. With the conclusion of its run in downtown Los Angeles, the Sebastian Professional "What's Next" tour showcased the ultimate in hairstyling, trend forecasting and all-out creativity. After eight months of competition, two winners were crowned: Daniel Lozada, of the professional/established talent category; and Rachel Carr, of the student/new talent category.
Sonya Dakar hosted the Wish Upon A Teen Mother's Day Event, on Monday April 29th, in support with the Wish Upon A Teen (WUAT) organization. WUAT provides resources and opportunities to teenagers who are recovering from traumatic experiences. The event celebrated Mother's Day and paid tribute to teens battling cancer and the mother's who bravely face their daughters' illness every day.

Before winning a silver medal and two golds, Olympic diving champion Greg Louganis was a bullied teenager who was beaten up regularly and robbed of his lunch money. He even attempted suicide. Today the world class athlete serves as an ambassador for the It Gets Better Project, which provides hope and support for bullied lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender teenagers.
