PBA Disaster Relief Fund is now accepting donations and applications for aid from beauty professionals affected by Oklahoma & Midwest tornadoes. Since 1955, the PBA Disaster Relief Fund has been there to assist salons/spas and beauty professionals recover and rebuild after devastation caused by natural disasters.
The Professional Beauty Association (PBA), producer of the North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA), announced renowned actor, author, entertainment journalist, producer and father Mario Lopez as the host of the 2013 NAHA Awards Ceremony.
Headed by grassroots efforts, more than 80 Milwaukee area salons and spas are expected to come together on November 13, 2012 for a fundraising effort to support the victims of the Azana Spa & Salon shooting.The effort raises further awareness about the potential tragedies that can stem from domestic violence, which was a key factor in the Azana shooting and other recent salon shootings in Clearwater, Florida, and Seal Beach, California.
Since 1955, the PBA Disaster Relief Fund has been there to assist salons/spas and beauty professionals recover and rebuild after devastation caused by natural disasters. As Hurricane Sandy and related storms continue to move across the greater Northeast, PBA reaches out to beauty professionals and companies to contribute to the PBA Disaster Relief Fund.
Starting in 2013, NAHA competitors will be able to compete in the new "Men's Hairstylist of the Year" category. The "Men's Hairstylist of the Year" will honor a stylist who displays the most proficiency in the designs and techniques used in men's styling and grooming. Entrants in this category must master current men's commercial, contemporary and wearable styling trends.
On July 27, 2012 the California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) proposed new regulations under its legislative mandate to provide for Safer Consumer Products through the use of “Green Chemistry” to replace chemicals of concern. The chemicals of concern (COC) will be based on and include lists prepared by numerous domestic and international bodies that identify both existing and possible chemicals of concern.
