Where were you from July 18 to 20, 2010? Well, if you weren’t in Las Vegas, baby, you missed out on getting hip to hundreds of new and exciting beauty companies, not to mention enjoying to-die-for events and spot-on seminars at Cosmoprof North America.
The festivities actually began on Saturday night with a Professional Beauty Association-sponsored Get Together party, where attendees sipped on champers and munched on apps while chatting with friends and colleagues. Seriously, this is the way to start a tradeshow off right!
The next two days were spent traversing the massive Mandalay Bay Convention Center and visiting the 700-plus exhibitors to meet with the best that the beauty biz has to offer. Of special interest was the Discover Beauty area, which assists newly emerging brands in finding the proper market while spotlighting the latest trends for retail buyers. What’s more, the pavilion offers the Discover Beauty Award, which awards creativity, innovation and market readiness. This year’s winner: barista bath and body, a full line of natural hair and skincare products to leverage the benefits of coffee appealing equally to men, women and coffee aficionados everywhere.
Sunday evening saw the North American Hairstyling Awards, which was attended by a record-breaking 2,800-plus guests! Oh, but did we mention that nearly 25,000 people watched the NAHAs? That’s right, this year the haircare industry’s most important awards event was seen worldwide via a life-streaming broadcast! Holly Robinson Peete, former 21 Jump Street actress and founder of the HollyRod Foundation, was bestowed with the 2010 PBA Beautiful Humanitarian Award for her foundation’s charitable initiatives. Peete spoke candidly about her own family’s challenges with autism, and her sincerity and passion resonated with the crowd.
Congratulations to all of the nominees and winners—you do the beauty industry proud. Read below for a complete list of all this year’s NAHA winners.
Also honored during Cosmoprof was Nioxin Founder Eva Graham, who was presented with the City of Hope 2010 Spirit of Life Award at a black-tie gala that was attended by the industry’s most influential movers and shakers. Psst! Joico’s Sara Jones was announced as 2011’s recipient!
Mark your calendar! Cosmoprof North America returns to Sin City July 24 to 26, 2011 at the Mandalay Bay. Be there or be square!
