Blown Away

It's amazing what a good blowout can do. In honor of celebrating a milestone-worthy birthday, I took time out to visit the fabulous new hybrid blow dry bar in my neighborhood. Located on the very popular Montana Ave. in Santa Monica, California, Séchoir+ not only offers an extensive cut, color and even extension menu, but includes a downright fabulous selection of blowouts to sample, crafted by owner Nava Nabavi. After a truly invigorating scalp massage and Aveda Invanti hair thickening treatment, I sat down with Nabavi to decide on the blowout that was right for me. From sexy S-wave "Ooh La La" to super polished "Le Chic," it was tough to pick a favorite, but we settled on "Avant-Garde," a rock 'n' roll-inspired creation that incorporated big body with mussy ringlet coils that quickly morphed into tousled perfection. The best part, aside from the friendly staff (one of them treated me to a hand massage!), adorable décor and yummy snacks (hello, cupcakes!), was Nabavi's major attention to detail. She seriously would not have me leave her chair until each strand was perfectly placed. Needless to say, I left feeling significantly foxier- so much so, in fact, that I couldn't help but hit the Montana Ave. boutiques post-appointment... it was my bday after all.
