Bird of Paradise Whispers by Emma Hack
An interview with Emma Hack, the makeup artist behind the music video for Gotye's "Somebody That I Used to Know" Gotye's hit song "Somebody That I Used to Know" is everywhere. The song is inescapable on the radio and even on television. The music video for the song has received over 175 million hits on YouTube, and has no doubt influenced the song's rise to number one on the charts. The unique concept for the music video has been parodied on Saturday Night Live and inspired a heap of copycats on YouTube.

Byu-ti Opens in Brentwood
A few months ago, I blogged on Byu-ti Hair Therapy in Santa Monica, California. [Read my original blog here!] Now, salon owner and Pureology ambassador Natasha Sunshine has opened a second location in neighboring Brentwood, California.

Saving the Best for Lash
Lately, I've been on a bit of a lash binge. There's just something so glamourous about batting a set of full, luscious lashes. Luckily, us beauty editors get to indulge our inner-most beauty fantasies, and I've had a chance to test drive a few fabulous options for the lash-obsessed. Here are my prime picks for pretty peepers:

Having just opened a new location in Beverly Hills, California, celeb stylist and salon owner Kristoff Ball, invited the Launchpad team for cuts and blowouts at his new eponymous digs. A mixture of eclectic art pieces, self-crafted furniture (did we mention Ball is also an accomplished carpenter) and a cool rockstar vibe (oh yeah, he's a musician too!), the atmosphere is anything but boring; just like Ball, who regaled us with exciting stories from his many years in the biz while knocking out bombshell manes in no time.

As the age old saying goes, "It's not the destination, but the journey." My journey, or at least this little blog, begins with a break-up. My girlfriend and I, after three and a half years, recently broke up. As everyone knows, break-ups are hard and they are painful, especially when you live together. However, when you are the one being broken up with, well, that just takes it all to a whole other level of pain and difficulty. So, I'm doing all the things one is supposed to do after a break-up.

What could be a better way to celebrate Grammy Awards weekend than with a rockstar blowout?! I stopped by the Grammy Pop-Up Beauty Bar at Cristophe Salon hosted by L'Oréal Professionnel Stylist Roy Teeluck for the most amazing blowout by stylist Mia Moore. Mia's secret ingredient was Roy Teeluck's signature "hair plumping" collagen product Concentre de Collagene. "The results from applying collagen to the hair and scalp are astonishing. It creates an enriched environment for hair to maintain its optimal health as it grows," explains Teeluck.

Séchoir+, blowout, dry bar
It's amazing what a good blowout can do. In honor of celebrating a milestone-worthy birthday, I took time out to visit the fabulous new hybrid blow dry bar in my neighborhood. Located on the very popular Montana Ave. in Santa Monica, California, Séchoir+ not only offers an extensive cut, color and even extension menu, but includes a downright fabulous selection of blowouts to sample, crafted by owner Nava Nabavi.
