Awapuhi Wild Ginger - The Experience
So I was fortunate enough to be invited to try out the new Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Wild Ginger in-salon treatment this past weekend during the company's annual Gathering. Let me be the first to say, I was initally dubious as I mistakenly thought, "Oh no, not another keratin treatment!" But this is not that kind of treatment. Rather, it is imbued with patented KeraTriplex, a blend of three proteins derived from sheep's wool.

Which is worse: knowing too little or knowing too late?
According to an article from Reuters June 13 2010, New York senator Charles Schumer (D) is urging the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to divulge any data it has on a possible link between retinyl palmate, an antiaging ingredient used in many sunscreens, and an increased risk of skin cancer. These donated manes are stuffed into recycled nylon stockings, creating highly absorbent booms to help contain oil spills. Since the Gulf Coast oil spill began, the group has been coordinating efforts to collect donations in temporary warehousing along the coast.

Jessica Simspon's wigging out???
Today, Ken Paves tweeted these pix of BFF Jessica Simpson and what appears to be her new, supershort pixie cut. I don't know, but I think it's a wig. Although I love the way it looks in the profile shot, not too sure about the head-on picture: She looks a little too like the pre-extension Kate Gosselin for my liking. What do you think? Do you think it's a wig? Do you prefer her hair short or long?

Crash and Perm?
I don't know about most people, but no matter how late I was for my hair appointment, I wouldn't crash my car into a salon. I'm just sayin'. According to, Marion Zock, 82, of Plainfield Township, Michigan, accidentally plowed her Ford Fusion into Classic Hair Design salon yesterday morning as she mistakenly stepped on the accelerator while trying to fit into a tight parking spot.

It's Beginning to Feel a Lot Like Summer!
Me and my son, James, in Malibu last year. Check out my beautiful windswept locks! As an editor, I'm used to working months in advance, which has its pros and cons. It's great to get a sneak peek at what trends I can expect, but that's just it—I have to WAIT. I get Holiday August. I can't wait for autumn, even though it's June. And I'm itching to hit the beach in March.
