Recently I was honored to Visit Michaeljohn Salon, and what a treat! Located in the heart of Beverly Hills, the cozy space was jamming when I arrived on Friday afternoon. I met with Justin Surh, an accomplished stylist and colorist with 25+ years experience. He worked with Toni&Guy and Vidal Sassoon in London before he moved stateside. In addition to styling for the runway, editorial and TV commercials, Justin has worked with some of the best-known celebs. Julia Roberts? Check.

I recently visited Tomi Ilic at The Butterfly Loft in Encino, CA, to get my son a trim. Tomi was good enough to give him his first haircut; this was his second. I don't know what it is, but I have a really hard time getting my son's hair cut. It looks way better afterward, but still. Something in me resists. So, in three years, James has only had his hair cut twice. Perhaps it's knowing that he's growing up? Or that I'm afraid that his beautiful copper-red hair will not come back? Or maybe his curls will dissappear?

So yesterday I was blessed to be a guest at the Angus Mitchell Salon in Beverly Hills for a color with Christopher Enlow and a cut with none other than the owner himself! First, let me begin by telling you what a well thought out salon this is. Upon my walking in, I was greeted by Elisa Bennett, the salon business manager, who gave me a quick tour of the two-story, 12-chair salon. She pointed out the artwork hanging upstairs (courtesy of Angus, natch) that can close to protect celeb privacy as it adds Angus' stamp to the salon.

Yesterday, I was privileged to be one of the 110 people invited to an intimate unveiling of the new and improved KMS California. And, my oh my, are you guys gonna be impressed! KMS is dedicated to being hairdressing brand that drives salon business and success. Anja Martens, VP of global marketing, got emotional as she expressed to the crowd how much she and her team poured their hearts and souls into the relaunch. "I'm so proud of the brand," she said, wiping away tears. "I don't know why I'm crying though!"

The all new International Salon & Spa Expo (ISSE) Midwest show will launch this weekend in Chicago. Set to run Saturday, March 26th through Monday, March 28th, this show is new to the Midwest, but not to the industry. Already the top show on the West Coast, ISSE Midwest will have top-notch international beauty brands as well as "indie" companies exhibiting. The show is full of education with over 200 classes offered in everything from hair care treatments to social media. Financial guru, Suze Orman, will also present on Sunday, March 27th at 1:00pm.

So I was fortunate enough to be invited to try out the new Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Wild Ginger in-salon treatment this past weekend during the company's annual Gathering. Let me be the first to say, I was initally dubious as I mistakenly thought, "Oh no, not another keratin treatment!" But this is not that kind of treatment. Rather, it is imbued with patented KeraTriplex, a blend of three proteins derived from sheep's wool.

Phew! What an amazing couple of days we've had here in Las Vegas. Today marks the last day of Cosmoprof, and although I'll be sad to leave the many new friends I've met over the past three days, my feet won't be! The show is HUGE!
