The Best Celebrity Hairstyles of 2015

The lob. Rainbow hair. Balayage and bronde. The wavy bob. The past year was marked by these and other hair trends that exploded all over social media and the red carpet, eventually taking off in salons across the county. Many of these trends found their origin atop the heads of some of our favorite celebrities - from Jennifer Lawrence, to Kim Kardashian, to Chrissy Teigen, it was a year of change. A-listers debuted new looks almost quicker than we could keep up (Kylie Jenner, anyone?), switching up everything from styles, to color, to length.

As we get ready to leave the old and embrace the new year, we're celebrating 2015 one last time with our list of the best celebrity hairstyles of the year!

Adele's Face-Framing Layers

The adored singer/songwriter blessed us all with a new album, and a gorgeous new look to match. Her jaw-length chop features flattering, face-framing layers and plenty of texture for a chic, modern look. Hello, indeed!

Jennifer Lawrence is no stranger to the cropped look - from chin-length to wispy pixie, she's tried it all. But her most recent take on the bob, debuted last month at the premiere of The Hunger Games: Mocking Jay - Part 2, is wavy, platinum perfection.

Kendall Jenner's Fabulous Fringe

It was a big year for Kim K's little sister, who walked in an array of shows at Fashion Week, strutted her stuff on the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show runway, and scored multiple fashion campaigns, including the much-anticipated Balmain x H&M. On top of all that, the model and reality star debuted a chic new look at the 2015 AMAs - wispy, brow-skimming fringe that added just the right amount of femininity and edge.

Chrissy Teigen's Sun-Kissed Balayage

The balayage technique proved to be one of the biggest hair coloring trends of 2015. One of the most gorgeous renditions of the look was this bright, blonde version seen atop model Chrissy Teigen at the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Show and Tea.

Kim Kardashian's Platinum Moment

Back in March, Kim Kardashian made headlines when she debuted her most fashion-forward hair look yet: a cropped, platinum lob. Though the look didn't last - Kim returned to her signature dark hue just weeks later, admitting that "being blonde is a full time job" - we have to applaud her for this bold, beautiful move.

Gigi Hadid's Faux Bob

Model Gigi Hadid faked out everyone (including us!) when she showed up on the AMA's red carpet it what appeared to be a brand new blunt cut, but was later revealed to be a partial wig and Gigi's real hair in front. But, even though it was faux, we couldn't get enough of this cute, beachy look, complete with blonde highlights and casually slicked back for a fresh-from-the-surf effect.

Hillary Duff's Case of the Blues

Embracing what swiftly became one of the most widespread hair color crazes of the year, Hillary Duff debuted her take on the rainbow hair trend on Instagram. The actress and singer showed off her turquoise blue locks and gave a shout out to her stylist with the caption, "@Ambahhh turned me into a mermaid last night…"

Julianne Hough's Pop of Pink

Another celebrity to embrace the rainbow hair trend, actress and Dancing with the Stars judge Julianne Hough dyed her hair a bright, pastel pink last spring. But the stars new, "unicorn" 'do wasn't just trendy - it was for a good cause. On her personal blog, Julianne explained that "…Pink is the color of kindness," referring to the Kind Campaign, an anti-bullying project by Lauren Paul and Molly Thompson.

Scarlett Johansson's Punky Pompadour

At the premiere of The Avengers: The Age of Ultron, the Black Widow actress sported an edgy, pompadour hairstyle, complete with striking blonde highlights and contrasting shaved sides. The look was equal parts fierce and feminine, and altogether gorgeous.

Kylie Jenner's Teal Tresses

Kylie Jenner was the unofficial queen of hair changes in 2015. From jet black, to pale pink, to bright blue, and every length and texture imaginable, the reality star wasn't shy about her love of wigs to achieve her countless new looks this past year. But of all the colors and styles, this trendy, teal bob Kylie donned back in July is our favorite.

Emma Watson's Wispy Bob

Dakota Johnson's Summery Highlights

After rocking a brunette hue for her role in Fifty Shades of Grey, Dakota Johnson switched things up with a blunt bob, full fringe, and warm, golden highlights. The look, which Dakota debuted at the 2015 Venice International Film Festival, was perfect for summer.

Amy Poehler's Rich Auburn

After wrapping the final season of Parks and Recreation, Amy Poehler bid adieu to her blonde character, Leslie Knope and switched up her look for a warm, auburn hue, as seen at the London screening of Inside Out. Rich hints of red and shimmering gold perfectly complement Amy's mid-length cut and signature waves.

Nicole Kidman's Sleek Style

In a sea of wavy lobs, actress Nicole Kidman stood out when she debuted her new cropped look back in February. The Paddington star wore her hair sleek and side-parted, complete with a refreshed, pale blonde hue. The final result? Simply chic!

Ellie Goulding's Sunset Strands

As the year progressed, the ubiquitous rainbow hair color trend progressed from one statement-making color at a time to multiple bright shades at once. British singer Ellie Goulding embraced the new way to do rainbow when she debuted a bright, sunset-inspired look at the MTV European Music Awards. Bright yellow and shimmering orange played together for a final look that was as dazzling as a sunset.

Charlize Theron's Braided Beauty

After shaving her head for her role as Furiousa in Mad Max: Fury Road, actress Charlize Theron proved that growing out a (very) short cut doesn't have to be all bad. Charlize eased the growing process with this stunning braided look, as seen at the premiere of Dark Places last July. Elegant and intricate, the style was the epitome of red carpet glamor.

Khloe Kardashian's Wavy Lob

The Kardashian sisters are known for their long, cascading locks, but the youngest of the three, Khloe, changed things up back in October when she debuted a blunt, wavy lob on Instagram. To make the transformation complete, Khloe dyed her already-lightened strands an even brighter shade of blonde.
