“L.L.Bean in a game of telephone,” is what hairstylist James Pecis said was the overall inspiration for the Tess Giberson girls. The intentionally messy chignon he created achieved exactly that -- a romantic, yet “traveler-in-the-woods” vibe. Pecis created a roughed up texture by saturating hair with Phyto Phytovolume Actif Volumizing Spray from roots to ends before blowdrying. He raked hair into a ponytail and secured it with an elastic. Half way down the pony, he then secured a second elastic, which would make it possible to pin the hair into a chignon with “practically one bobby pin,” he said. He wound the hair into the chignon, leaving the ends out and pulled out a few face-framing pieces to finish the look.

The Makeup
reate a more real, raw vibe, Shiseido artistic director Dick Page used only cream-based products to create this look. And, much to the dismay of the models, he also forwent the concealer to keep eyes from looking too glam. He paired the smudgy, warm gunmetal smoky eyes with a dewy cheek created by blending together a combination of Shiseido Lacquer Rouge (a lip product) in Rose Grey and Viola. He completed the look by dabbing Shiseido Lacquer Rouge in Ophelia on lips.

Alternatives to the classic French manicure seem to be here to stay. Jin Soon Choi of JINsoon created this modern monochromatic take on the classic nail look by applying two coats of a gunmetal-black hue -- a yet-to-be-named JINsoon shade that will be one of a five-color Tess Giberson collaboration collection, which will launch in fall 2014. She accented the nail by using a thin nail art brush to swipe the tips with two coats of JINsoon Kookie White, a greyed out white lacquer.
