AMA Hair Recap

Last night the 2011 AMAs were held in Los Angeles, and though I love the musical performances, one my favorite things about award shows is checking out the fabulous fashion, makeup and hairstyles. I couldn't have been more excited when my new favorite discovery Hot Chelle Rae won the award for Favorite New Artist. And I have to say bassist Ian Keaggy's hair looked great.

Let me back up a little. Saturday night we stopped by the Matrix Beauty Lounge at the XBOX Miracle of Music Benefit in honor of the AMAS. The event supported The Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and Matrix helped Give Back Hollywood raise $100,000 for the cause. Matrix Artistic Directors Nick Stenson and Ammon Carver offered touch-ups and hair care and styling recommendations to event guests including Estelle, Joanna "JoJo" Levesque, and Kevin Jonas. Nick Carver also created Hot Chelle Rae's Ian Keaggy's rockstar haircut. I'll admit Hot Chelle Rae won me over with their rendition of Katy Perry's Teenage Dream which you can watch HERE.

Speaking of Katy Perry, her pink hair sported two 'dos at the AMAs, an up do adorned with a Vivienne Westwood headpiece and a rolled retro look.  Yes, we all noticed her roots were showing, but, hey, rock 'n' roll is all about breaking the rules.  

Another artist who changed his hair several times was Justin Bieber. I noticed Justin changed his style at least three times. My favorite was the flipped-up look he donned during his shuffle for the wild LMFAO finale.
