The online community at Bangstyle is ready for a new trend for 2016! Bangstyle suggests that next year the lob will evolve into the shag for spring!
“This style gives that sexy done undone look with little effort,” explains Ashlee Levitch, Bangstyle President. “What we’ve seen from runways and beauty forecasts is that the next big thing is playing up texture and experimenting with a variety of textures.”
“The good news is that it’s easy to give the lob a fresh look and transition to the shag – just add layers! Options are endless with the shag. We’re seeing stylists and clients opt for everything from heavy fringe in front, side swept bangs or longer piece-y tendrils around the face. The addition of layers gives you limitless texture and movement,” Levitch continues.

1. Going from a lob to a shag is easy! Lobs have a blunt line with little to no layers. To change a lob all you need is a ton of layers. Shags are commonly achieved by bringing the focal point or weight line forward in front of the face. A variety of shaggy layers can be created to pull the focus forward with shorter layers around the face and longer ones toward the back of the head. These layers can also be updated for any length of hair.
2. The use of a razor during the cut will aid in achieving those soft shaggy ends – it’s all about the texture!
3. Fashion, cosmetics, nail and hair trends will all reflect new updated versions and applications for texture next year. But, before you give your client a “shag” make sure to discuss what kind and use images to communicate like those in the Bangstyle Fresh Pix section where you can search specific styles. Go for a modern version. Think 2016 runway trends of flowing skirts and light summery fabrics, à la Louis Vuitton’s Spring 2016 Show…something more Taylor Swift and less David Cassidy.
